Slide falls into the wrong hands

Tinman Michael Dell must be miffed after his top secret plans to release three Dell tablets have been revealled on the world wide wibble. Android Central has got its paws on a slide of a roadmap showing three new Dell tablets: one powered by Google's Android platform and two by Microsoft's Windows 7.

It looks like Dell will ship an Android tablet, dubbed "Streak Pro," in Jun. It will have a 10-inch display (1280 x 800 resolution) along a 1.2GHz Nvidia Tegra T25 dual-core chip. Dell will install its Stage 1.5 UI on top of Honeycomb and apparently it'll also throw in an "enterprise application stack.” Unlike the first Streak, which doubled as a phone, it seems its 10-inch brother will be data only.

The two Windows 7 tablets are set to follow the Streak Pro in July and October. There will be a 13-inch Latitude XT-3, which will look like the old pre-iPad desktops. It will have laptop hardware and a standard-voltage Intel processor from the Sandy Bridge family, 4GB of RAM, full HD 1080 support and stylus.

The Latitude ST will tip up in October. This will be a 10-inch unit carrying one of Intel's upcoming Atom Z6xx series Oak Trail tablet chips clocked in at 1.5GHz. This will look like a post iPad tablet and include 2GB of RAM, up to 128GB SSD storage, dual cameras and eight hours of battery life.No word on pricing for any of this.

What is interesting is that while Dell seems to still be supporting Windows 7 as a tablet platform, Dell believes that Android tablets will eventually dominate the tablet market.

Incorporate a phone and give me a version that runs on Ubuntu, until then I will be a Luddite. To many pieces of hardware, I want one device, if I have to an ear-bud to work with it. I'll carry it around like a college notebook.

What exactly leaked from the dell?

Was the android damaged? Can it be repaired?

And what about the situation with the dell? Does the farmer know that his containment berms appear to have failed? Has he been able to get the leakage under control? Has he notified the EPA?

In a very Apple-like move, Microsoft recently said they won’t deal with tablets until they have something impressively new to offer. This means the Dell Windows tablet will be a stock Windows 7 desktop GUI with the limited touch support. I don’t expect that to go far since it’s basically what the market rejected in favor of the iPad model.

The specs on the Android tablet look good though. The Xoom, the Sony, then this Dell. If Google can mature Android 3.x soon then I change my timeline, the iPad might have good competition before the end of the year. I bet Samsung has a successor to the Galaxy Tab in the works too.

Windows Phone 7 is a pretty solid product, but it was released way too soon and without much vision. Microsoft has great engineers, so clueless management is the prime problem. These are the same people who thought they could manufacture hipness with teenagers in the Kin.

Having done plenty of competitive research, you can find just about anything you want on any company you want because Google is so powerful, and plenty of people who should know better post information in the clear without confidentiality warnings.

I can tell you my competitors’ “secret” price lists because their partners go about willy-nilly breaking their confidentiality agreements. They reformat and post the prices on public sites without any confidentiality markers.

Stupid, but endemic.

Will they sell "Streak Sauce" to increase the flavor?

“Streak Pro”?

Barely safe for work, and probably a bit disgusting:

I have been looking at getting a Dell Streak 5 as my next phone. A lot cheaper than an iPhone, and from the looks of it, a whole lot better.
