I am in full agreement that this is a very good commercial BUT having been a business startup owner, I and, I am sure, many other of my fellow FReepers know just how false this is to real life. As a fun exercise and disregarding the temporally ridiculous building construction, lets assemble all of the factors that make this impossible especially regarding government.

As a start I will refer to multiple recent news articles here and otherwhere about health, license and zoning bureaucrats stopping such lemonade stands at first sight!

It is not that I object to this commercial, it is that it is what we would like but cannot have. It took me a year to realize that my business had multiple silent partners called government who could not be bothered to differentiate between a start-up business and an established 20 year company let alone IBM. Wait until Suzie starts filling out those OSHA and EPA forms ...

Verizon is anything but small business friendly. Not a lot of choices out there.

A great political commercial would be a parody where Obama shuts down Susie.

“Capitalist pig!” “Exploiter!”

It’s a cute commercial, but how many times are they gonna run it?

I wouldn’t be too picky. It is a cute and effective commercial. We all know, in real life the liberal busy bodies in her neighborhood would shut down her lemonade stand because she didn’t have the proper paperwork and the city would be demanding sales taxes.

The message I got is that Suzie became an authoritarian in a hurry. She was bossing kids around and pointing at them in a manner that indicates she had not gone through her hostile workplace training yet.

The tag line at the end came from her snotty personal assistant wanting to know, "Is she expecting you?"

Can you really get a phone you can swipe a credit card through?

"First of all you're going to have to grease the local politicians for the sudden zoning problems that always come up. Then there's the kickbacks to the carpenters, and if you plan on using any cement in this building I'm sure the teamsters would like to have a little chat with ya, and that'll cost ya. Oh and don't forget a little something for the building inspectors. Then there's long term costs such as waste disposal. I don't know if you're familiar with who runs that business but I assure you it's not the Boy Scouts."

At least it’s better than the one for the flea control product. It shows cute little dogs as “patriotic protesters”. I guess Obama has managed to organize even the Canine Community.

Or monkey bars...either one.

understand and we ALL know what you are saying but...just sit back and enjoy it and lighten up a little. It’s a nice thought and is positive in a world of negatives. I’ll take that any day than the commercials making the dads look like weak jackasses hoping to make the moms look like the tough guys. So, this is cute, funny and just plain nice.

A more realistic version of this commercial would be where she is arrested, handcuffed and hauled off to jail for selling lemonade with out a State License.

She then uses the phone as security to the bail bondsman.

Welcome to Obama's Police State America!

Thank God that I live where kids can still have lemonade stands, albeit they are not set up on Mom’s ironing board anymore.

They ran this commercial into the ground the first few days after its release. Now it’s just mute button material. Beyond ridiculous how often they are running it.

What is the target? Small business?

I think not. The target is suzy or a suzy wannabe.

She doesn’t give a rat’s ass about OSHA or regulation or employees or dad. All she cares about is the business suit, the secretary who carries her lunch box and some play ground equipment in her office.

Don’t sell the steak, sell the sizzle. Verizon is selling the dream
