NEW YORK – A New Jersey woman was stabbed in the face with a pen on a New York City subway train after she tried to stop a man from lighting a cigarette. The assault occurred on a crowded No. 3 train near the Chambers Street station during Tuesday's morning rush. Witnesses told the Daily News and the New York Post that an argument quickly escalated when Evelyn Seeger asked the man not to smoke. The witnesses say two riders were trying to restrain the man when he pulled out a pen and slashed Seeger's face. Seeger, of Nutley, N.J., was treated at a hospital and released. Police charged the man with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

A couple on a crowded train became amorous, then passionately engaged in a conjugal encounter. The other passengers on the train watched silently until the couple finished their lovemaking and lit cigarettes. The passengers complained vehemently about the cigarettes.
I think it’s funny. My guess by the car plates this is in Europe or elsewhere and the ‘pedestrian’ is Muslim....I watched this 10 times....great viewing.

Yep. It’s one of those charges they can add on and use in plea bargaining. It’s also akin to being unable to possess paperclips (”burglary tools”) if one knows how to pick a lock.
With some pens, a low-angle stab produces a slash. That sounds exactly like what is described.

I think consequences are the one thing people dont get brought up to understand. Everyone is so hopped up on piss and vinegar and wants to make their piece known. However, most people are not ready to deal with a consequence (even if illegal) of their action.
Just look at the show Cheaters. You keep showing up with a camera around people who have the mindset that cheating is ok, and one of those people will snap and shoot or stab. You can be right, and vocal, and virtuous. You can be all that, and also a stabbing victim.
As long as you get to decide what “basic decency” is.

I am mostly outraged that a woman was attacked and disfigured.
There is a small part of me that has mixed feelings, I’m sick and tired of the tobacco nazis, and I don’t even smoke.
Public school students are taught that smoking is evil. Other than homophobia and racism, I can’t think of another thing that public school has taken a moral (or immoral) stand.

I would say mauling someone with a pen is indecent, but apparantly some “conservatives” disagree.
