My gmail is down this morning. And I'm seeing by bing, gmail down that it is. But, no one seems to know why and every article that I try to get on to read about it seems to be hanging and not loading all the way. I also read on a post that there were rumors of DoS attack??? hmmmmmm
The only thing I can think of in your case is that there is some corrupt DNS/nameserver problem somewhere. If you need gmail you might need to reboot your hughesnet, especially after a registry change (I used to have hughesnet) but I am just guessing since I don’t know what your setup is and I don’t know what you’ve changed. It could also be something at hughesnet, but that is less likely.
So, your best bet is to do what you can which is to shut everything down, including hughesnet, and reboot everything from scratch. If that doesn’t work I’d call hughesnet (or get on their website) and see if they are having an issue with google. Hughesnet should also be able to talk you through flushing your DNS cache which might be necessary and takes several steps.
Yea, I think I'll try a hard reboot of my hugesnet. I hate hugesnet :( phew
I just tried Gmail and it worked for me (7:58 a.m. CDT)
All is well with Gmail from the South.
They're slow and expensive but in rural virginia they were the only game in town. :0/
Sounds like a hugh and series problem!
On topic. Did you know you can check GMail online?
Just checked. Mind works.
Really?? That's a miracle of modern technology that is.
Welp, I did a hard reboot....nada. Next I’l try dns flushing. If none of those works, I’m lost, I don’t know what to do. This is the msg I get when I try to get on my gmail now, ‘Bad Response From Server.’
Yep, rural UP Michigan. It’s either this or dial up. I’m thinking dial up might not be a bad idea at this point.
Anything to do with any google website will not load. I can’t get on google search or a couple of google blogs I’m on, including my gmail. The msg. I’m getting is ‘Bad Response From Server’
I think you need someone who can help you clear and reset your DNS cache and there are people who are more expert than I am once you get into the inner workings of things. I do it for myself but if things go wrong I don’t know how to back you out of it.
So I’m going to ping the tech gurus and see if someone shows up to help you. Maybe they can figure it out where I’ve failed, too. It might not be what I say it is.
And it might just be that google is down in your area. We don’t know yet.
Thank you!!! I’m with someone at huges net right now. They are running some diagnostics but, haven’t gotten back to me as of yet. He said it would take awhile.
Yes, you must be patient. I wish it were different. Good luck.
He said it’ll be two days before they get back to me....sheesh...they probably don’t know what the problem is either.
Do you want to try to flush your DNS? We need to enter some commands into the CMD window. They are simple commands but spelling counts. Are you game?
Hmmmmm, well, yes and not so sure. I’m not afraid to try things on my computer. I just would like to know the ins and outs before I try it. What is DNS, ect. Sorry ;)I just like to know what I’m getting into before I get into it.
The other thing I’m noticing is a lot of other pages I try to get on are only partially loading....strange.
Sure. Good idea. DNS means Domain Name Server. It turns the computer id number into the name that you see. Google might be a number like 123.234.234 on the internet. The DNS turns the number into the human name Google and vice versa. Sometimes the entries can get corrupted in your computer.
Here’s what we’ll do:
1) From the Start menu choose Run...
2) Type cmd
3) Click “Run As Administrator” if possible
4) Type ipconfig /flushdns
5) Press Enter
Done.
You should get a positive response from the computer.
All your problems should be solved.
Just kidding. Maybe you should be able to get onto google. If not you may have to wait for hughesnet to get back to you because I have run out of ideas. Or the FReeper gurus arrive and get you out of this. We’ll see.
OK?
