Definitely, Stefano went out with grace and style. For his future, I’d like to see him as the lead singer of some kind of pop group. I wish him luck. He’s a cutie pie with a good voice.

” Well, it was Stefano and I think he went in great style.
Loved his final song and performance, in soul man mode.
He showed grace and some people do better when the pressure is off.”

Agree. He’s been through a lot and overcome it.

Also, have you noticed the , to me , sincere friendship between Stefano and James ?

James has looked like he really respects Stefano, and has visibly shown it several times over the last couple of weeks.

“Will any of the judges ever have the balls to say “You know what, when you finish outside the Top 3, chances are we’re never going to hear from you ever again.”

A lot of the season winners don’t make it that big either. And some of the non winners do very well. They are all so different. If their niche is strong, those people will grab them up. I think jacob would be perfect for broadway.

What can happen at the end of a season is that a boring kid can end up against an off-putting kid, and The boring one might win. Like lee dewyze up against a dreadlock-wearing leftist who alienated middle America. Bower sox is possibly doing better than he is.

” For me there’s not a heck of a lot separating these performers. It’s anybody’s game. They all have to be on fire next week, and it’ll be hard with Ms. King’s songs, most of which are stunning and perfect but downtempo.

Hopefully voters won’t be too put out by the nature of the material. I think Carol King can do no wrong but it might be an intimate show. “

Thanks for your take on song selections. I like to see what others feel they should sing, and then what they actually choose and how they perform it.

Agree that this material will challenge them and in some cases provide a chance to show how they can handle something different.

Re the Davids Cook and Archuleta, watching that season’s finale was very funny in this house. We had some real fans on either side. We had not yet learned to adjust our DVR for this show, and sometimes the show would run long and get cut off by the DVR.

That season finale cut off, and you won’t believe where. Ryan was standing there with the two men. He said, “the winner of Season (whatever number) is... David” and that was all we got!!!! We all laughed hysterically and ran to the computer to find out who won.

” lee dewyze “

Do you think he’d win against this years group?

Your picks match 4 of mine. I also think that 60s songs with really emotional lyrics will separate the men from the boys next week. You can’t smile-n-sing through them without looking like a phony. They do have to bring it. They have to feel and believe these songs. The girls have a chance to do really well but they have to believe their song.

He would already be gone, definitely (lee dewyze).

” He would already be gone, definitely (lee dewyze).”

We agree. There were a few performances I liked, but overall didn’t feel he was better than many from past, or this seasons performers.

James was sobbing when stefano left. I think these kids do become like army buddies or camp friends. — getting really close really fast because of their 24/7 proximity and the heavy emotions they go through together. To me it seems like the group is very supportive and nice to each other.

” They have to feel and believe these songs. The girls have a chance to do really well but they have to believe their song.”

Nice insight, and hopefully what Iovine has influenced.

I’m looking forward to seeing how James in particular handles this as he’ll have to shift from rocker mode.....

Thanks. I’m worried about James too, but he did do that one song he dedicated to his family, and he was very capable of pouring his soul into it. I really wonder which song he will pick.

Re: the losers. For all the hype about how great the talent is this year, the perfomances of those voted off were not good and their voices were not something I'd pay to hear, either CDs or live.

J-Lo and Tyler sounded really ridiculous saying how great they sounded.

Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson, in my mind, have "Idol" status. I don't see that kind of combination of talent, individuality, maturity and independence in this year's crowd. Maybe this year's format, living together and working with the same coaches each week, sucks it out of them. Maybe Simon toughened them up. Who knows?

Stegano Langone, who was eliminated from American Idol on Thursday, said in a Friday interview that he never even wanted to be the American Idol. Langone says that he simply wanted to get his foot in the door of the music industry.

“When I came out for American Idol I never wanted to be the American Idol,” said Langone. “It was getting my foot in the door of the music industry and taking a step forward in that way. I am so happy about my experience, so thankful for all of this and blessed.

“What I came out here to do, I did it. I succeeded. I got to lucky No. 7, and it doesn’t really reflect on who I am as a musician or a performer at all. It’s a show. That’s one thing you’ve got to remember, it’s a show, and now it’s time for me to really move forward. There’s a wide open crowd and market out there right now, and I’m ready to pounce on it.”

Idol contestant James Durbin reportedly had an emotional meltdown after Langone was eliminated from the show. But Langone says that he was able to calm Durbin down.

“I told him not to worry about me,” Stefano told E! Online. “I did everything I set out to do on this show and it’s going to pay off and I’m going to do great. I told him, ‘Just keep focusing on the show and what you gotta do to keep succeeding and I’ll be back in a couple weeks.’ I talked him down a little bit. He’s a big crybaby.”

Langone and Durbin grew close during their time on the show, to the point that Langone says he will be a part of one of Durbin’s most important moments.

“He’s a brother to me, and I’m going to be his best man in his wedding,” said Langone.

As for his future, Langone compares himself to John Legend and Stevie Wonder and claims that he didn’t even show America all that he was capable of during the show.

“I have the range of Stevie Wonder,” he said. “I have that range and I have that soul, especially when I get on the piano. People haven’t seen that John Legend feel. I have a lot of stuff in the bag that I haven’t really shown yet. I haven’t gone and done my original stuff, I haven’t gotten behind the piano and shown vocally what I am capable of. I am really going to show the world not just what I can do on American Idol but in the music industry the kind of impact I can make.”

Yes!! Really glad they could support each other through this unique, life-changing, experience. This personal, down-to-earth, aspect keeps me interested.

You won’t believe this, but I have picked “You’ve Got a Friend” for James.

He is so creative, maybe he could pull off an original arrangement. Risky, but he’s so likeable he wouldn’t be voted off anyway.

Wow, I just saw this and got the goose bumps when Stefano vows he will be James’s best man (wedding in the works, I guess)!!

Also, I’ve said all along that Stefano has a “soul man” in him when the “boy band” sound takes a nap. He did it in his last number and a few times before.

Natch, when they mentioned Carole King, they were speaking my language and sparked the nostalgia...*sigh*...

So, how about:

Haley, “[Do the] LocoMotion” or “Where You Lead, I Will Follow”

Casey, “I Feel the Earth Move” or “Smackwater Jack” or “Jazzman”

Lauren, “One Fine Day”

Scotty, “It’s Too Late” or “So Far Away”

Jacob, “So Far Away” or “Been to Canaan” or “Way Over Yonder” (lots of material for Jacob here...)

James, “You’ve Got a Friend” or “Up on the Roof”

I can imagine that! If he could pull off a unique but not 180 degree off arrangement of “You’ve got a Friend,” it could be James’s goosebump moment! I look forward to seeing whatever he does this week.

(My high school best friend and I think of each other whenever we hear that song, and always will, no matter how little time we spend together these days.)

It was a wild idea, but who knows. I look forward to it, too, and wonder if Carole herself will show up on Thursday night. What an awesome songwriter and performer she is.
