I gather the guy is very well known..doesn't that change the parameters/rules significantly?..it could influence the voters..heck..Haley could have Stevie Wonder play keyboard for her next week.

It was unusual and I see where you are coming from, but I don't think it will sway the voting too much. The person in the pimp spot has never gone home- ever. Zach Wylde fans are generally not AI fans. Most AI fans probably thought he was an extra on Sons of Anarchy. Some Zach Wydle fans might have tuned in to see him, but I doubt they voted.

I don't really see it as that different from all the extra back-up singers, the sax player, Lee's bagpiper last season, last week someone (Jacob, I think?) had almost a duet with another singer. So, I don't think it will have a tremendous impact on voting.

Oh, yes. He even looked more like Yukon Cornelius before all these hair trims he’s had. Definitely!

Yess! We have needed this sleepy Biden! (plus, it’s a lot less nauseating than the old sleepy Hillary!)

Haley’s nickname should be Growlie.

He is so so sexy. I never had seed Chaplin, for which he won the Oscar, but I watched it a couple of years ago and he was amazing. I think besides his irish good looks and charm, it’s his brains that are so attractive.

I fell in love with him the first moment he came on ally mcbeal. Do you remember what they let him say???? Ally is walking through a different law firm and accidentally walks into his private office. Flustered greeting, she introduces herself, and what does he say? Probably 85% of the audience missed it. He says “ally mcbeal, catchy theme. (keeps talking)”. The SHOW did have a catchy theme - I nearly fell out of my chair. He seemed to be ad libbing like that through the whole show.

I am so glad he survived his addictions and came back.

When Casey started singing, even While I recognized the beautiful song by NK Cole, I said to myself, “going home.” Sad, really. He is very talented but he did not bring it and sounded weak weak weak. My big son said I was crazy. I said, I bet my Freepers feel the same way, and when I read the live thread later, sure enough, you all (most) reacted just like I did, like someone put cat food in your burrito.

Ken, maybe they should do what. “ so you think you can dance “ does. They vote for favorite guy, and favorite girl. So for the first several weeks, one guy and one girl go home each week. When it gets down to favorite dancer, then at the end they can prefer anyone, but for the first part of the season you can’t just vote one gnder off. Idol has a lot of female fans and I think that’s why.

I vote for all the idols I like, and I do vote for Jacob. His voice is beautiful, and also he is learning and growing. I did most definitely NOT vote for him last week, with his horrible preaching to us.

My favorite thing about this show, besides Jonny’s thread, is seeing the kids taking the notes, learning, growing during the season, and becoming polished little gems instead of raw talent.

It took him a looong time, but even little Ricky is trying to learn. Paul is the only one who has not even tried to follow advice. I’m not sure he has the intelligence...

Dance is different than voice. Dance is physical...a "male" and "female" role/image...they're different..they compliment each other. Voice isn't like that....

The AI problem is the show's demographics...majority of voting viewers are female teens/tweens and they vote, like democrats, early and OFTEN...and they vote for the cute white guy..

The only way to possibly change it, IMHO, is, in the early weeks, until maybe 5-7 are left, is have the audience vote the bottom 3, ( or perhaps 2?) and then have the judges decide who goes...

If that had been in force this season, we'd see a different group of remaining contestants now..f'sure..

Yes, voting for the bottom 3 would maybe solve it — but it makes the show different, instead of being positive and trying to help your favorites, you’re voting people off the island. I don’t know if the powers that be want that negativity.

Hahaha about the sleepy Biden. Hanging out in the Senate all those years, he knows when it’s ok to snooze and when he needs to look sharp. Far as I’m concerned, whenever Zero talks, it’s ok to snooze. By the way, does anyone know who that is behind the Veep? Looks like another one nodding off, lol.

I swear, when Steven said to Haley, “I like that thing you’re wearing tonight,” he followed it by “I enjoy looking up your dress.” Is it just me? Did anyone else hear this?

I honestly don’t understand why or who is voting for this guy.

I don't get to vote because I work Wednesday nights and watch the show on tape when I get home, but if I watched the show live I'd vote for Lauren and Jacob. I think Lauren has the best chance of being a national success of this entire group. I think Jacob is the best singer left.

He's completely stylized and the people here who think he's just another stereotypical male black singer have Helen Keller's ears (one deranged poster thought he should sing "Old Man River" for Movie Night...why not just suggest "Mammy" from The Jazz Singer?).

These threads exist to put down any contestant with anything other than country class or style, right? (James is given a pass for having white-person audacity.) I mean, a poster identifies Jacob with a black Cabbage Patch doll while another suggests he sing the most stereotypical "Negro Balladeer" song in the history of cliched movie music?

The man is a tenor!

Open your ears and minds, people!

You've sworn falsely. He did not say that.

Agree on Lauren and James. Would love to see those two battle it out at the end!

Lauren hasn’t given us her best yet.

James has, and he’s sensational.

I heard it. Tyler is a dirty old man. I hope those very young girls can avoid his casting couch.

“Thanks for lookin’ up your old address.” It was a joke. Haley didn't seem to mind it at all.
