A day after he was booed and heckled at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Charlie Sheen took the stage Sunday night in Chicago and received a standing ovation on the second stop of his 20-city road show.
The crowd cheered when the curtain opened and revealed a smoking Sheen. Some in the crowd chanted "Detroit sucks."
People who lined up outside the historic 3,600-seat Chicago Theatre before the show said they had low expectations after what they heard about Sheen's performance Saturday night.
"Not really a trainwreck, just a little bit sad and more than a little bit tedious," wrote Richard Roeper in the Chicago Sun-Times of the re-tooled show performed in Chicago.
That's close to a rave review after the fiasco in Detroit Saturday. Sheen was heckled, booed and eventually abandoned by the crowd at his inaugural stage show. Many audience members in Detroit chanted "refund" and headed for the exits even before the show abruptly ended.
Matt Sharr of Detroit told WWJ that he agreed and said the national anthem may have been the highlight of the Sheen show as fans booed and left early.
"He just seemed completely unprepared," Sharr said. "I mean, I'm sure in a controlled, planned environment, he'd be a funny guy. I'm sure he's pretty humorous, but it was almost as if he just didn't care. It seemed very impromptu, just a terrible showing by, you know, by most accounts a pretty good actor."
For the Chicago show, Sheen changed up the format, using a master of ceremonies who asked the former "Two and a Half Men" star questions during Sunday night's performance in Chicago. Sheen ditched the rapper, the long monologue and the videos that were part of the Detroit show that had people leaving in droves Saturday night.

Normally happens during the first show of the tour. I would not read much into it.
He’s an actor, which mean that when he’s funny, he’s reading the funny lines of someone else.
A stand up comedian could probably make something like this work, but then he’d probably also be working with other comedy writers.
Charlie’s hubris has no bounds. Drug and alcohol abuse, couples with enablers, will do that to you.

This guy has some serious issues that need a pro to work along with him or a 24/7 babysitter to keep him from doing any Lindsey Lohan antics.
