Trump fails to produce birth certificate
Politico ^ | 03/28/2011 | Ben Smith

Donald Trump made headlines earlier today when he provided what he said was a copy of his birth certificate -- but a quick check reveals it's actually not an official document.

The paper that Trump released says "Jamaica Hospital" on top and lists the date and time of what he says was his birth to "Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Trump." The piece of paper has a seal at the bottom.

But after several New York City-based readers contacted POLITICO's Maggie Haberman, her call to city officials revealed that an actual birth certificate, which is issued by the Department of Health, would have the agency's seal and also a signature of the city registrar - neither of which the Trump document has. Officials said the city Health Department is the "sole issuing authority" of official birth certificates in New York, and that the document would clearly say so, and "city officials said it's not an official document."

It appears instead to be a hospital "certificate of birth," meaning the piece of paper the hospital gave to his family saying he was born. Such a document typically has the signature of the hospital administrator and the attending physician.

You DO understand what Trump produced was the equivalent of the Hawaiian LONG form? You know, the one the attending DOCTOR SIGNED when the child was delivered in front of the Doctor’s own eyes.

I don’t think it is or was Trump looking like the idiot so much as you not understanding what it was he produced and why he produced the ONE SIGNED BY THE DOCTOR!

Thank goodness Trump is so self assured that he can get away with claiming that Obama needs to show his birth certificate. He can get away with this without looking foolish and the media won’t back off. GO TRUMP GO!

Obama’s very fortunate that the state of Hawaii has stood by his Certificate of Live Birth.
If they had invalidated his COLB, he’d be in BIG trouble.
The Supreme Court would have probably ruled him to be ineligible by now.

“The issue of what constitutes an official Hawaii birth certificate received national attention during last year’s presidential campaign. Those who doubted Barack Obama’s American citizenship called the copy of the Hawaii birth document posted on his campaign Web site a fake.

Asked about that document, Okubo said, “This is the same certified copy everyone receives when they request a birth certificate.”—Janice Okubo, Public Relations Officer, State of Hawaii Department of Health. June 6, 2009

No he didn’t. Trump produced the SAME FORM “BIRTHERS” are requesting Obama produce - the one SIGNED BY THE ATTENDING DOCTOR within minutes of the babay’s birth.

We have seen on our monitor screens an image of Obama’s Certificate of Live Birth, a doucument like unto Mr. Trump’s certificate of birth, and equally insufficient as an instrument of legal proof of birthplace.

You asked: “You think this was a feint on purpose?”

When I read the title of this thread I immediately thought of “feint.”

Now The Donald can ask: “So, is that Certification of Live Birth that Obama (Gibbs!) supposedly published an official document that was issued (NOT!) by the HDOH?”

I truly hope in all his efforts forthcoming, that The Donald has been given the “Birther 101” Class by those in the know such as Leo, Mario and Joe. It would help.

Crazy like a fox, makes them admit they know the difference between a birth certificate and a related document.

Nope. One can request a certified copy of one’s long form birth certificate if one choses. You know - the one SIGNED BY THE DOCTOR within minutes of the delivery. Not one generated by the state years later based on what the state says is in archived original or scanned form someplace.

All Trump has to do is dispatch an office worker to go to the NYC Health Dept with a notarized authorization to release his BC and the form requesting it. Said worker forks over $23, an voila! The Donald’s birth certificate. Or he could take a half hour out of his own life to go to the Health Dept.

The Donald will probably take advantage of this close scrutiny to show where the left has been ever so silent on that of the POTUS.

Both of my sons needed original BC’s from DC within the past few months; it took half an hour. They emerged with the long form(s). Under $20, but didn’t involve shipping/handling that could add to the tab.

The first comment is priceless:
"Trump's mother, it should be noted, was born in Scotland, which is not part of the United States. His plane is registered in the Bahamas, also a foreign country. This fact pattern -- along with the wave of new questions surrounding what he claims is a birth certificate -- raises serious questions about his eligibility to serve as President of the United States."

Who says political reporters can't offer devastating satire?

Nice try, but you’re wrong. I have both short and long form BC for myself. Yes, you may request either.

“Come passport time it was a no go. Health Department certificate only.”

I assume that it contained a copy of the hospital original, and not like the pap that Obozo submitted. no?
