We just had Popeyes for dinner. There was a lively discussion regarding it compared to KFC. I'd like your thoughts. I say you can't beat the red beans and rice though.

Before KFC or Popeye there was another famous (or notorious) chain:

I prefer KFC myself. Pop-eye’s is too greasy for my tastes.

I think someone mentioned going to "ethnic" neighborhoods for chicken earlier.

We don't have an ethnic neighborhood here, unless you count the Indian Reservation. Indian Tacos are great though!

Until strawberry soda is served at Kentucky Fried Chicken, and you can go through the drive-through and order a single jalapeno to accompany it all, I say it’s no contest.

I think Popeye's is a southern thing. Same for Church's

We have a bunch of both in Ohio.

Neither are great. KFC has better chicken but Popeye’s has better sides and biscuits. Agreed on the beans and rice. Popeye’s chicken is bland.

I agree with you about Lees.
IF and its a big IF, the Lees franchise is well managed.
Lees fried chicken is great and their gizzards and livers are the very best.
Also their cole slaw is without equal.

I remember picking up some Picnic’N Chicken after church here in San Diego and taking it home to watch the Charger games. Good stuff. But I guess I’d choose KFC these days.

Last three times, once each in three states, the KFC “extra crispy” literaally had to have the grease wrung out of it before we could eat it. And, as for the “extra crispy’ part, it was soggier than the ‘regular’ used to be. Haven’t been inside one since. That’s been about 10 years, and counting.

Church’s is first choice; Popeye second...unless we happen upon one of the few Broasters left.

I had one experience with Popeyes years ago, but it was bad enough that I have never, nor will ever, eat there again. And KFC doesn’t impress me.

For chicken — give me Chik-Fil-A.

Popeye's by far for the chicken -- very spicy and crispy. When I lived in the Pittsburgh area years ago, I'd drive all the way out to Irwin, PA to get their product.

OTHO, the cole slaw at KFC is better IMHO.
