Zippity Doo Dah Zippity Ay My oh my What a wonderful day.
Plenty of sunshine Comin' my way. Zippity Doo Dah Zippity Ay
Mr. Bluebird on my shoulder, It's the truth; It's actual; Everything is satisfactual.
Zippity Doo Dah Zippity Ay Wonderful feeling, Wonderful day!
Can someone tell me why bluebirds start building a nest in my box but then abandon it? It's not that tree swallows or wrens are here yet to chase them away, a pair started building a nest in my box last week but now they quit. This has happened several years in a row. I'm in South Central Pa.
I live across the continent from you on Humboldt Bay and I’ll need a scooter if I sit in front of the computer much more. The over abundance of rain has kept me house bound this month. I’m 78 and can no longer comprehend written instructions for any of my cameras especially my D80 Nikon so I continue to take “snapshots” with my Canon A540 to share with family and FRiends. Keep them photos coming...
There are Blue Birds in the mountains a few miles east of us but I have never seen one here on the coast so I can’t help you. I believe BB require a very specific hole size but not sure why. A quick internet search didn’t do much for me...
Bluebird song is so sweet and with their chattering I swear they're talking to each other. A guy up the street fills 4 boxes with bluebirds, amazing since I saw very few bluebirds until the last several years, we live just on the edge of an urban area, so bluebirds are making a comeback here.
I just read something, the male tries to attract a female with a display and then puts nesting material in the box, if the female accepts the male and the site she alone will start building a nest. I think the females are rejecting my box rather than me seeing a nest being started.
I absolutely love these pictures! In my neck of the woods, we are about to break an all time record for the most consecutive days with rain, and we are at least 10 degrees below normal. For us, it isn’t Spring...it’s just a little warmer Winter.
Thank you for the happy and colorful pictures! You brightened things up for me!
Gorgeous, as always! Thank you! :)
Gorgeous, as always! Thank you! :)
Still two feet of snow and ice in my garden, and 'spring planting' will be in June sometime.
Beautiful pics!
Don't let your age 'issues' stop you from using that Nikon D80 -- PLEASE!
Set the Camera dial to 'Auto' (its green) and shoot away. For Macro shots turn the dial to the image of a Tulip and zoom in on a flower. That's your Macro or 'closeup setting'.
The day I got my Nikon D3000 in early Oct of last year, I just charged the Battery, formatted the SDHC Card, put on the 55-200mm lens, set the Camera dial to Auto, the Lens switch to Auto Focus, and went out in the yard with our Yellow Lab and shot away. After she refused to Pose for me any longer ;-), I started taking Macro shots of the the wife's Begonias. (they were still alive in Oct, up here in IL)
BTW, you don't need the the 55-200mm Lens for Macro shots, the 17-55mm standard 'kit lens' works as well. I used that for Macro test shots when I bought my Flash Ring.
So, come on fellow Nikon owner, get out there FRiend and shoot away. And NO more darn 'snapshots'! :-)
And I missed your PING yesterday as I was doing 'Darkroom Work'. Trying to make a Landscape portrait of the youngest Grandson from a Photo I composed to be Framed and hung in Portrait Mode. Luckily the original Image File had just enough Room where I could re-crop the 'Portrait' to 'Landscape', yet still have all of him to fit on the paper.
(our oldest daughter says she has a frame that can only be hung 'horizontally' so the Original Photo I gave her was of no use. Maybe next time I'll give one that's already Framed)
That tip alone is worth a Million to me so watch your mailbox closely...
I will, and thanks :-)
I can't remember when it was I saw that ... I was born in '48, so I'll guess in the mid to late '50's.
Such simple wisdom.
Amen to all you say.
I venture that it is not your age, it's the fact that the instructions generally are written by folks whose 2nd, or 3rd, language is English! I got a new (used) car last week and I'm going to have to slink down to the dealer and beg him to help me program the radio! It's so embarassing....
Breathtaking! We still have snow around here, and it’s cold.
Will you ask the dealer how to read the gas milage thingie on our 9 month old GM vehicle while you’re down there. It’s not raining here today!
I’ll ask. What do you want to know? In the back of my manual they say that the dealer OWES me an explanation of all these gadgets.
But, I already know that they won’t help me with the built in garage door opener. I have to figure that one out myself.
Whew! Thanks Swampsniper. I clicked on the thread thinking about our very own Zippy the Pin Head in the WH.
Imagine my pleasant surprise.
:)
