I was messing around ( on someone else's thread ) and suddenly got nostalgic for my influences from the 70's and thought about my absolute favorite cover in the world, a song that I would never tire of....
Here it is...

Larry Norman and Randy Stonehill doing Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit in the Sky, using their voices for the guitars and special effects. They also do a really good job on the Stones’ I Am Waiting.

BLASPHEMER!
Alright, I love Stevie too, but don't push it. Nobody does Hendrix, like Hendrix ;-)
Trower would be the first to tell you it's the other way around. Huge Trower fan here. Listening to Daydream right now.

I know!!!
Trower rocks! James Dewar helped to create that Hendrix sound.
I was spinning Caravan to Midnight in the auto today.
Interesting, it’s like a blue-eyed soul version. I like the drum fills.
Have you ever heard Jimi’s live versions of Little Wing from his Winterland (San Francisco), and San Diego concerts?
The first comes from his album, “Concerts” (1982 Warner Bros/Reprise) and the latter is on the album “Hendrix in The West” (1978 Polydor).
Give ‘em a listen, if you want to hear the master stretch out on that tune.
I’ll make it a point to check those cuts. Copied your references to disk. Thanks, man!
Check out the 45RPM version produced by Paul McCartney. Even better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKMAZxaFuS0
Chris Farlowe, who should have been as popular as Joe Cocker, covering Out of Time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNyAzuB1-rE (he’d also done Paint It Black.)
Yeah, Trower fanatic here, as well. I just recently downloaded a Firefox add-on for downloading videos off the web, and Trower videos were some of the first things I went looking for.
I remember wearing out Bridge of Sighs when it first came out in ‘74. Used to drive my neighbors nuts.

A notch above Caravan.
They've both available on CD. I'm sure you can get them online. I've had both albums since before the era of digital.
There are a lot of other incredible tracks on those albums, too. Jimi's renditions of Johnny B Goode, and Blue Suede Shoes are especially outstanding.
The one band that can pull off a Beatles tribute.
Cool. I’ll hunt down the CDs.
It’s crazy that even CDs seem to be on the road to extinction. Except for the auto, everything is usually streamed... but unfortunately digitally compressed.
A well mastered CD is worth its weight in gold these days. Do you remember the half-speed cut vinyl? I had few - they were high quality pressings, but a very limited set of covers.
I’ve seen that guy before on the Otis Redding episode of Ready, Steady, Go!, but I don’t know much about him. I’ve gotta dig into some of these British soul singers, they are pretty class.
