Florida Gov. Rick Scott ordered drug testing Tuesday of new hires and spot checks of existing state employees under him, but civil rights and labor lawyers questioned whether the directive was legal.

Yet every lowly Home Depot employee and Walmart greeter is drug tested...
What a sad joke...
I was tested when I played sports in college- and that was in 1989-1992!
Can someone explain how this troll has lasted this long?
Look at his posting history. It’s an encyclopedia of leftwing talking points.
Says Muslims are no different than Christians. (CoExist thread)
-His ideas for Tea Party sign in WI
Contracts should only be honored when it means giving millions in bonuses to CEOs who have driven a government bailed out bank into the ground. Not for common workers!!!!
-On man who refused to take down Cross
Founder of Attention Whores for Jesus. What an arse.
-On AZ Senate race
Sympathy votes will likely give this seat to Rep Giffords. Id be surprised if the National Party even puts any money into this race.
-On Clarence Thomas ruling on Obamacare
She has set up a lobbying business and PAC that is trying to repeal the health care law. If this was a liberal judge and his wife was being paid as a lobbyist to have legislation overturned, Im certain that we would not have a problem with it.
Thomas should step away...
-On Obama not producing any school records etc
Im holding my copy of the Constitution right now and am eager to have you tell me where Im to turn to find a mandate for a candidate for any office to reveal his or her SAT or LSAT score, or any of the other crap that you are demanding access to. Youre not seeking to defend a nation, your freakishly obsessing over a man. Seek therapy.
-Palin responsible for gun violence
Ever seen the photos of Sarah shooting an automatic weapon, or the film footage of her shooting the caribou? You are never going to see another MSM news report concerning Palin that will not be accompanied by those images. As of yesterday, Palin is the face of politically motivated gun violence. My prediction.
-Trying to say the AZ shooter is not a liberal
I went to this site when I saw the info here on FR this morning. It may also be anti-semitic, but it is largely anti-immigrant, anti-liberal, pro-white.
Question - does drug use affect quality of work?
School I use to work for hired a contractor (lowest bidder, of course) to replace all light fixtures in the entire district with “ultra high-efficiency florescent” fixtures. Well - that summer, while the crew was “on site”, I was on campus one evening about 7PM and found this crew all gathered up in the high school gymnasium all getting stoked up on pot.
Imagine the “surprise” when all those “great” lights installed began failing within months of the crew leaving. EVerything from fixtures that had been basically torn up to install them, to wiring that was done completely wrong... It was a nightmare for the maintenance department. When the school tried to hold the contractor responsible - they couldn’t be found. Again - imagine that.
Did the pot have anything to do with it?.... You tell me.
Maybe there are conservatives who can think for themselves and don’t feel the need to belong to the clique of the lowest common denominator! Try thinking for yourself, it’s liberating.
On a side note, I believe that employment-based drug testing has done more to mitigate drug use in this country than any criminal law ever did.
Drug testing has become mandatory before you are ever hired almost every place. So what’s the big deal with requiring this? Unless all union workers are dopers...
I got a job once because of drug testing.
The company’s first choice had already hired onto another job and so they brought in their second choice. He flunked the drug test, not once but twice!
By this point enough time had gone by that they desperately asked me, the only person still available but at the bottom of the list, to hire on.
They never regretted hiring me. At the end of 6 months I was offered a substantial pay raise and a promotion.
I agree completely, but being as things are as they are, I feel others should be as humiliated and inconvenienced. Perhaps it will incite to rebel.

Big difference between smoking pot on the job and off, no? Was a drug test necessary to assess the situation you describe, or was on the job behavior all you needed? A lit joint in somebody's hand while on the job tells you a whole lot more about their worth as a worker than metoblites in their urine, that may be six weeks old, doesn't it?
If that same crew had instead shared their joint the previous Friday at home, do you think pot would have had anything to do with the poor work any more than if they had shared a few beers?.... You tell me.
And since the contracting firm couldn't be located after the job was done, do you suppose there was more at work effecting the quality of their workers than pot?
Naw, we don't WANT them showing up!
Your “common denominator” is one.
You are the only “conservative” I know who wants Clarence Thomas removed from ruling on Obamacare. That’s about as far left as you can get. It’s a DUmmie/KOS talking point.
No every argument I make is based in the premise that all of the rules apply equally to everybody and individuals are responsible for themselves. Many here seem to think that there is a club called to conservatism and its members and adherents should be held to a lesser standard.
I believe Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and atheists should all be held responsible for their own behaviour equally, no group or individual gets a pass or leniency.
I believe CEOs and Union members are bound by the elements of contract and they should be equally required to satisfy the points of their contract. CEOs are not superior or inferior to the guy on the factory floor.
I believe there is a difference between bashing liberals and promoting conservativism. Some think that snarky comments about Michele Obama or any other liberal d’jour is productive. I think that rude is rude, and rude tends to turn off the independents who are needed to win elections. Conservative arguments stand on their own without impolite dialogue. Being nasty might make you feel better but change will only come from victory at the polls and that comes from encouraging others to vote for our side. They won’t do that if they think we are jerks (see how successful it has been when lib gays throw condoms at priests during mass or when Code Pink smear blood on opponents).
And to the point of this thread, I beleive that if it is a good idea to drug test the guy who is cutting the grass at the Statehouse it is equally useful to drug test the man or woman who is making law and policy in the Statehouse.
If that is not conservatism, based on equal treatment as defined by the US Constitution, then you’re right, I’m in the wrong place. But thinking conservatives agree with me.
This should benefit law enforcement in that it will assist the state in expanding its DNA database.
“Some think that snarky comments about Michele Obama or any other liberal djour is productive. I think that rude is rude,...”
Yet you have no problem being snarky about Sarah Palin. Just yesterday you were making the point that the likes of David Letterman and Tina Fey wanted her to run because they thought it would win the election for the 0ne.
Snark about Michele 0bama is bad but snark about Palin is OK - is that your take on things? Yes or no?
