Katie Couric’s position at CBS News has come under question recently as reports have indicated both that their head anchorwoman may be looking for another home or that the network is attempting to significantly reduce her pay. And now resident media man at The O’Reilly Factor and veteran analyst Bernie Goldberg is betting his hat on it: “As anchorwoman of the CBS News, when her contract is out, she is gone.”
The discussion came up at the tail end of a segment on the President’s approval ratings and the Libya situation– a much more politics-heavy Weekday with Bernie than his usual media fare– but concluded with Bill O’Reilly asking Goldberg to predict Couric’s future at the network. “She’s gone,” he replied flatly, suggesting that, since the “only reason” CBS hired her and played her a hefty salary to work with them was “to get the ratings up”– a routine uphill battle for the CBS Evening News, the network has little interest in keeping her around. The prediction came as, once again, O’Reilly suggested Goldberg was an oracle. “I say this without fear of being wrong: as the anchorwoman of the CBS News, when her contract is out, she is gone.”
O’Reilly, noting that Goldberg was merely speculating, wondered whether he had some special inside info. “Did they ask you to replace her yet?” he joked.

Bernie Goldberg has been out of the msn loop for a very long time now. Still that’s a pretty bold prediction/statement he’s making. Time will tell.

An “anchor” is supposed to hold the ship in place....with Couric it keeps drifting to the left.
With Oprah leaving her show I think Katie can move back to her niche.

The last time I saw Katie Couric was 2 years ago and she was trying to hump Obama’s leg.
That is the only reason any network ever hired anybody, Bernie, Rather, Jennings, me, anyone!
