Katie Courics position at CBS News has come under question recently as reports have indicated both that their head anchorwoman may be looking for another home or that the network is attempting to significantly reduce her pay. And now resident media man at The OReilly Factor and veteran analyst Bernie Goldberg is betting his hat on it: As anchorwoman of the CBS News, when her contract is out, she is gone.
The discussion came up at the tail end of a segment on the Presidents approval ratings and the Libya situation a much more politics-heavy Weekday with Bernie than his usual media fare but concluded with Bill OReilly asking Goldberg to predict Courics future at the network. Shes gone, he replied flatly, suggesting that, since the only reason CBS hired her and played her a hefty salary to work with them was to get the ratings up a routine uphill battle for the CBS Evening News, the network has little interest in keeping her around. The prediction came as, once again, OReilly suggested Goldberg was an oracle. I say this without fear of being wrong: as the anchorwoman of the CBS News, when her contract is out, she is gone.
OReilly, noting that Goldberg was merely speculating, wondered whether he had some special inside info. Did they ask you to replace her yet? he joked.
The segment via Fox News below:
Bernie Goldberg has been out of the msn loop for a very long time now. Still that’s a pretty bold prediction/statement he’s making. Time will tell.
Please, God.
As an early riser, I schedule her disgusting ‘notebook’ crap for the shower.
Let it be true!
“What’s the frequency Kenneth?”
The perky one is a bit high priced for the low ratings?
Keith Olbermann is still available? eheheh!
That bit of news made me all perky.
By the way, what jobs do anchors take once they leave the air? I am only aware of retirement after anchor.
FOX is always hiring
Katie can always go back to Arlington Pizza Hut, where she and I worked together during the summer of 1979.
Oh, wait. They fired her....
Really??
An “anchor” is supposed to hold the ship in place....with Couric it keeps drifting to the left.
With Oprah leaving her show I think Katie can move back to her niche.
Tell us more, you must have some good stories...
But then we’ll have to deal with Bob Shieffer(sp) EVERY night.
That is the only reason any network ever hired anybody, Bernie, Rather, Jennings, me, anyone!
"The only reason TV networks exist is to make money for the people who own the TV networks", said Fred Friendly... and he was so right!
You are so right. Also, plz see # 18.
If they want boffo ratings, just hire Charlie Sheen as anchor.
