You should be proud. I would be.

May God the Father protect him always.

Great! My oldest is in the Army....he LOVES it and my middle son leaves for Fort Benning on Aug. 1st., he is still in HS.

Feel free to contact me with any questions, since I have been through it recently myself.

God Bless him and you and your family.

Tell his to get as much training as he can and in the light of today’s military “Leadership” don’t volunteer for ANYTHING! Also tell him that ANYTHING Diesel Mechanic, Medical or Dental is EXTREMLEY marketable when he is discharged.

best decision I ever made. I was in the Navy and the Army and both made me a better man. He will learn to push his limits, respect himself and others and finally, how to pick up his own mess! surely you can see the upside there ;-)

Hang in there. they say the toughest job in the military is being an wife/mother.

We’ll say a prayer for you both.

Congratulations. And, yes, it does make us moms (and dads, too) nervous, but proud.

Both of my sons are active-duty military. Feel free to freepmail me if I can help with questions or concerns.

As a prior US Army Infantry sergent - congradulations for raising a man strong enough to stand for something. You will see him mature and become someone you can admire.

For yourself, faith that God will see him through is the strongest tonic for those nerves.

God bless and thank you.

Congratulations! Tell him to never turn down a school opportunity. You never can tell what skills will be marketable when he gets out.

Please thank your son for his willingness and desire to serve our nation. It says a lot about who he is and how you raised him.

Congratulations....you are now a military family! My son is in Afghanistan now and I won’t lie to you, I am worried sick about him. But he LOVES it. When he came home on leave he couldn’t wait to get back. My other son was in the Navy ....he left home as a teenaged boy and came back as a responsible man. You will get a lot of support from the folks here. Freepmail me anytime you want to vent!

Hi....what Beachy said is so very true, Freelancer. Most of us here have been
in the military or have loved ones who have been. When we come
to the Canteen, we see love, respect and honor to those wonderful,
brave troops who keep us free...free to even have a place
like this to come to. Our loved ones are welcome here!

My son is in the AF and my hubby was and I know that the
people here love them and respect what they have done!

Thank your son for his service...he’s going to do GREAT!...and
yes, you will miss him like crazy! We’re here...always....

I went and spoke with recruiters for the Airforce and the Marines and decided that it wasn’t because I couldn’t hack it, but I didn’t have the gonads to hack it.

My brother, on the other hand, could hack it and served our Country as a Corpsman in Afghanistan and is now in the Highway Patrol.

To the OP, your son has already served his country better than I by joining. I will pray for his safety and future. God bless.

Thank your son for all of us.

My grandson is in basic at Fort Benning now, I know about being proud and scared at the same time.

My son signed up for the NY National Guard, but decided to do his training as regular army. He did 2 months basic and 4 months OCS at Fort Benning...his graduations from each were proud, proud moments for family and friends.

We are all proud of your son now...please tell him that.
