If Bill Gross of Pimco dumps all U.S. bonds in his portfolio and Carl Icahn returns $1.6 billion to his investors, one might be a little concerned that the proverbial sh*t is going to hit the proverbial fan soon...any thoughts?

They think the GOP is going to tie the credit increase to something that Obama and the Dems won’t agree too. They have not faith that the Dems and the GOP is going to work together.

I am open to suggestions, for those of us not in a position to buy farmland, chickens, and a gun.

Ahh...no. We are way beyond anything like that. They are betting America is going belly up. When interest rate takes off, the debt will not be paid and will default. The state may be the first to default.

Keep watching TV because all of TV including Fox supports Obama - the one who bankrupted and destroyed America. Americans TV viewership empowered this takeover and destruction.

I would buy some sort of low cost gun because you may need it.

If you have real assets like Gold, Silver, etc...farmland is going to be really cheap.

If you google, there are some stats on how much land you need to support a person living off the land by region. Like in the North West it only requires about 1/3-3/4 of an acre while in Texas you may need 3-4 acres.

If you are ex-military, you can homestead in Alaska and defer down payment with the state for 5 acres for 20k. Rough living, but if you work hard you won’t starve.

Ammunition prices are going to skyrocket.

Could simply mean that another bout of monetization is on the way and the interest rates are no longer attractive enough to sustain holding that debt.

So, what should we be doing about this today? I’m feeling panicky again and don’t concentrate well.

If you are able to grow your own food and have a gun, you can survive. Regardless of the collapse.

My Family lived for 150 years without so much as a Hidy Ho from the Feds, the State, or even the county. Nothing has changed in this country to prevent the return to this lifestyle for those that are capable of it.

They didn’t have money, they didn’t need money, they only had the sweat of their brow.

I have been thinking about taking my truck driving skills to the oil fields of NoDak....I have family in Ashley, never met most of them, but blood is thicker than water. That’s a long truck from WA. They have land cheap, you can make a living. Just make sure you put enough of everything away before the cold hits hard.

buy food, ammo, gold, silver in that order and try to avoid having too much USD in bank, just enough to pay your utilities. I don’t see how US can get out of the problem without a massive collapse of the USD or a default of US debt

I've been having a lot of panic attacks lately myself, but I've learned to take them in stride.

PIMCO dumped all government securities back in Jan 2009 too. And the world didn’t come to an end.

Bond funds aren’t like holding bonds to maturity yourself. They way money flows in and out of them, they are a whole lot like an equity fund, without the returns. Never had much respect for them.

We are in deep crap.

Financially close to insolvency.
Deeply divided between two incompatible philosophies.
Printing money like mad.
A significant portion of the populace hates their country
Increasingly dependent externally for manufactured items.
Revolution brewing in Wisconsin.
Unwilling to protect our own borders.
Populace addicted to living above their means.
Shrinking middle class.
Military engagements with no real end.
Multiple combinations of foreign nations seeking to end our ability to influence events.

I could go on a long time. There isn't any getting out of this. Making sure that is the old republic that is rebuilt and not something else is worth thinking about.

You have an excellent idea. You can always move back if you find it is not to your liking, but my guess is you will fall in love with the place. This would be a good time of the year to make the move, with Winter ending soon there. ND has the lowest unemployment rate in the US and employment keeps growing there.
