For a short time we had a panther living across the street. he was eating the wild hogs and deer.

Now we just have bobcats, otter, raccoons, possum, herons, and the hogs the panther missed.

Two times in my life I have been attacked by reasonably large vicious dogs. Both times the dog received almost infinitely worse than he gave. I say 'almost infinitely' because in both cases the dog was left alive while I received no injuries once and a minor bite the second time. To this day I think I can beat any dog (I'm sixty) and will maintain that attitude until I fight a dog and lose or become feeble, whichever comes first.

Cats are a whole 'nuther kettle of fish. They don't fight fair and have more weapons than dogs. At least they use more weapons. I don' wanna fight no cats...period...unless the cat weighs less than ten pounds or is really, really sick yet sans rabies.

I hit it with a four-by-four, and then a broom," Rick Arnold said

I wonder if Laz would hit it?

(With or without a four by four)

“I live in Arkansas and every time I walk my dogs, or walk to the mail box I have my S&W Mod 29 in 44 Mag on my hip. You know; just in case.”

I didn’t realize that there are bears in Arkansas.

I tend to share this attitude. As an avid cyclist I have been chased by dogs many times. They can sense fear, but they also know when you don't show any. I'll jump off the bike if an attack seems imminent (and it is a dog I can't out sprint) and bow up at him, yelling and posturing aggressively, and so far that has always shut them down. Except one big old hound out in the country in Arkansas. He didn't seem impressed so I had to give him a whiff of pepper spray. That did it.

Cats, not so easy to scare away. Think of an 80 lb. bobkitty, probably not going to attack you. Now, a 180 lb. mountain lion, you better be armed and ready. Those things are solid muscle and fighting spirit.

LOL I broke my coccyx once, it involved my Siberian Husky, a snow disk and too many Harvey Wallbangers. Most painful thing to break. Cannot cast it....

I was out hunting for hog and think I saw a panther a short way off through the trees. It was just a shadow about 50-75 yds off through the thick brush and trees.

I was praying he wasn’t stalking me. There is no way I would see him coming if he chose me for dinner.

I'd just respond to "it was here first" with, 'Well, I'm also YOUR boss and since you seem to taking up for the 'first resident,' try getting HIM pay your salaries, union dues and retirement!!! See you in the bread lines guys."

I said I just want it moved out of the area, not killed you idiots.

That's the same thing as killing it.

Relocated animals rarely survive.

How would you fare if somebody snatched you off the street and dropped you off a few hundred miles from home?

If you see a bobcat near your home, there is no need to panic. Bobcats rarely attack people. However, if a bobcat does attack a human, it generally will have symptoms of rabies.

Wish I was...even have pictures of the cat sitting there licking its paws in the early morning sunlight. It happened 3 times...all 3 times I was told the same thing...the cats were here first and the local building was scaring them out of their hiding spots...that they will just go find another place and that my phone calls were noted and not necessary.

The woman was attacked at her home on Thursday, and her husband came to the rescue.

Can't be my mother then. My father passed away in 1994.

Did the cats call and complain when you moved there. You know they probably did not like the smell. LOL
