While Harvey Weinstein celebrated his Oscars win of four of the coveted awards for The King’s Speech and chirped among a bevy of celebrities at the famed Sunset Tower Hotel, following the Oscars, green celebrity Jane Fonda (a.k.a. Hanoi Jane) was in the back, exercising a little green Oscars celebration of her own at the Vanity Fair Oscars party.
The New York Daily News reports:
During one trip to a bar in the back of the tent, we recognized the familiar aroma of marijuana, and then caught sight of “Easy Rider” star Peter Fonda standing in the corner with his sister’s boyfriend, music producer Richard Perry. Inches away, Jane Fonda (seated next to “Glee” star Jane Lynch) used one hand to shield her mouth while puffing what looked like a handmade cigarette.
At a nearby bar, Catherine O’Hara and Martin Short stood chatting. O’Hara reportedly grinned and asked, “Do you smell the weed? We’re blaming it on Peter Fonda.” Green celebrity, indeed.
Well, good for you, Jane. Even if you weren’t up for a nomination this year, the whole event had to be exhausting. [Jane Fonda and father Henry Fonda were the first father-daughter couple to be nominated for Oscars in the same year -- 1982.] It’s hard enough on all the people trying to cover events like the Oscars. We can’t imagine what it must like to be smack in the middle of it. But it seems like everyone (maybe Peter and Jane Fonda a little more than others) had a great time.
The stars were happy, chatty, and all around friendly from the view of at least one reporter — Hadley Freeman of The Guardian (UK). Hadley chatted with Colin Firth, a green celebrity who has participated in the Oxfam food drive and other charities to support people in destitute nations. Besides the green Jane Fonda allegedly had at the Vanity Fair shindig, the green celebrity is well-known for green humanitarian activities, including the Jane Fonda Workout; another fitness program for youth that she conducted with rapper Ludacris in Atlanta, GA; and her anti-war stint in the Vietnam era when she earned the nickname Hanoi Jane.

When she’s high weed she can forget what she did.
The only news concerning Jane Fonda that will ever interest me will include the words: “natural causes”.
I hear hemp has many uses.

Be glad it was a terrible time. I went to college in 66 and when the draft (They called it the Lottery) came we all sat around and watched the numbers get drawn. One guy in my Sociology class drew 5 so the next day he gave me all of his notes and left for Canada. I never saw him again. I knew guys who got killed and a friend of mine had to have 13 operations from stepping on a land mine and he still walked with a limp. Another guy I knew was a Cobra pilot. I think the life expectancy for a Cobra pilot was 90 days. He got shot down twice. Second time the co pilot’s head landed in his lap. He is still squirrely today. I wonder why? 50,000 guys dead to get involved in what was basically a Civil War in a little two bit country that in no way endangered our National Security.
Jane Fonda was a traitor for going over to N Vietnam and sitting on a gun turret and the only reason she was not brought up on treason charges (in my opinion) was because her father was a national icon and they just couldn’t bear to do it. But the war itself was insanity we never should have gotten involved. In the end we turned tail and ran and the North Vietnamese won and took over the whole country anyway.
These smirky little 60’s punks never grow up.
My uncle went and he had to shoot a kid. Was never the same after that. It was either shoot or be blown to bits by a satchel bomb. Can you imagine making that decision? Then they get the pleasure of coming home to a bunch of ingrates.
You see those POW/ MIA flags. Take a good look Jane because that sweet thing you call air was paid for in blood.

To the best of my memory, my lottery/draft number was 314. Before the drawing I remembering thinking “If I get called, I’ll answer the call”, and after the lottery thinking “What a relief that my number is so high”.
One of my brothers went to Nam, and thankfully returned safe and sane (well, kinda sane, he’s a left-leaner).
Regardless of the rightness or wrongness of our entering the war, siding with the enemy like Jane did is just plain evil.
