PHIL Collins has quit music for good after developing hearing problems, a dislocated vertebra and nerve damage in his hands from his 40-year career playing drums.
The Easy Lover hitmaker also thinks people are sick of him and his music.
Its a good time to stop, said the star, who has sold more than 150 million records.
I look at the MTV Music Awards and I think: I cant be in the same business as this.
I dont really belong to that world and I dont think anyones going to miss me. Im much happier just to write myself out of the script entirely.
Im not worried about not being able to play the drums again, Im more worried about being able to cut a loaf of bread safely or building things for my kids.
Collins who is in a relationship with newsreader Dana Tyler and has been married three times, to Andrea Bertorelli, Jill Taverman and Orianne Cevey recently insisted he has no plans to ever tie the knot again.
Shes a very sweet girl, sweet lady but Im not going to get married again, he said. I think Im better off on my own.
“Out Where the Busses Don’t Run”. Great freakin’ episode.
I'm also partial to the album "Duke"
I had a ticket to see Genesis at the Summit in Houston in 1983 for the "Genesis" tour. My roommate didn't want to go, so I bought one ticket. Phil Collins got a sore throat on the day of the show, so they postponed the show by one day. Unfortunately I had to travel out of town and my roommate took my ticket. He said it was great. It was several years later before I got to see Genesis after "Invisible Touch." I also saw Genesis in Miami at Joe Robbie Stadium for "We Can't Dance" tour, and then again later that year at the Oakland tadium.
I saw Collins solo at the Music Hall in Houston after "Hello, I Must Be Going" came out. He toured with the Phoenix Horns from Earth, Wind, and Fire. I saw him solo again after No Jacket Required at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA.

I saw the Joe Robbie show as well. MTV was there that night doing interviews and filmed the show...never aired on anything other than an MTV News report.
That was awesome!
Thanks for that.

My father ran into him at a hotel 15 years ago, and had no idea who he was. He said Collins chatted with him for nearly an hour by the pool and then left. Then someone told him who he was. My dad said he was a heck of a nice guy, funny, and had ZERO celebrity airs. Class act. I too am a drummer, and I feel awful about what Phil is going through. My prayers are with him.
Saw it too. Seminal moment in TV history when TV ceased being merely TV and became steadily more "filmlike". Remember who directed that pilot: Michael Mann, who has since directed the remarkable "Heat", among other films.
Actually, Thomas Carter directed that one, Mann was Exec Producer.
If you haven’t seen it yet, check of Mann’s “Thief” sometime. If you like “Heat”, you’ll dig it. James Caan says it’s the best film he’s ever done... which is incredible praise coming from Sonny Corleone.
I was at the Orange Bowl show, “Invisible Touch” tour. That was my first concert. I saw Pink Floyd there a few years later in the pouring rain. Epic. What a great place to see a show.
I saw Phil with Eric Clapton and Robert Cray on stage , together , the entire concert . I think it was ‘87 .
After I first moved to LA, I found myself in a deli in Santa Monica. All of a sudden, I got this weird deja vu feeling. I'm looking around, thinking, "Have I been in here before?" Then it dawned on me...it was the deli where De Niro's character and "Edie" meet at the lunch counter: Broadway Deli.
Watching those old Miami Vice clips makes me realize that I had really good taste... Don Johnson was definitely a babe back then.
What a class act. Best wishes to you, Phil. Thanks for all of the wonderful music.
Well done Phil.

Need I say I love you
Need I say I care
Need I say that emotions
Something we don’t share
I don’t want to be sitting here
Trying to deceive you
Cos you know I know baby
I don’t wanna go.
We cannot live together
We cannot live apart
That’s the situation
I’ve known it from the start
Every time that I look at you
I can’t see the future
Cos you know I know baby
I don’t wanna go.
Throwing it all away
Throwing it all away
Is there nothing that I can say
To make you change your mind
I watch the world go round and round
And see mine turning upside down
You’re throwing it all away.
Now who will light up the darkness
Who will hold your hand
Who will find you the answers
When you don’t understand
Why should I have to be the one
Who has to convince you
Cos you know I know baby
That I don’t wanna go.
Someday you’ll be sorry
Someday when you’re free
Memories will remind you
That our love was meant to be
Late at night when you call my name
The only sound you’ll hear
Is the sound of your voice calling
Calling after me.
Just throwing it all away
Throwing it all away
There’s nothing I can say
Youre throwing it all away.
