The FW 187 was never a major factor -- only 9 ever built.
Is your picture a FW 187? It is hard to tell for sure but it could be the same plane as the Times photo. There was no accompanying article - just the photo and caption. It doesn't say how many were flying over, so maybe they got lucky and caught one of the very few incidents. I wonder how they came to have the photo.
