He is missing one eye, the roof of his mouth and can barely eat or drink - but America's 'most injured soldier' is going back to war-Actual Title
Americas most wounded soldier to return to combat is going back to the front line to serve his country once more.
Captain D.J. Skelton will take charge of 192 men from his previous unit and fight in the dangerous plains of Southern Afghanistan.
Friends said his achievement should have been physically impossible but he pushed through the pain because of his warrior spirit.

I started to respond with 3-4 paragraphs to explain how I feel about this, but in the end, you’re left with your thoughts and I with mine. I admire your dedication to our wonderful soldiers and upbeat thoughts. However, I’ve realized this determination in the face of active administration undermining is truly futile. In the end this does not make sense.
Silly me, I forgot about that.
I understand...me personally, I want them home - now. We are damned sure gonna need them very soon.
God bless this man and his loved ones. We know why it doesn’t appear in any papers.
Patriotism, manhood and sheer guts is to the media as the cross is to a vampire.
He is doing it for his men, it seems.
...graduated from West Point military academy in New York where he allegedly illegally jumped off a 900-ft high bridge in a daredevil stunt. His other achievements include completing 465 gruelling hours of punishment tours, which is one hour of walking back and forth with a rifle, and personally body-piercing the entire women’s soccer team.
Assuming that even at West Point there are at least a few reasonably attractive young women on the women’s soccer team...“Lucky Mongo” it is.
Who says academy grads can’t still be badasses?
I understand your viewpoint. Service to Odingleberry doesn’t seem to be a driving force for him...:)
I'm personally hoping for a country-wide nuking that is the megascale equivalent of a Daisy Cutter. There is no value in any part of this country whatsoever.
You don’t risk your life for the President nor the Administration....you risk it for the men of your unit......
I’ve always heard that old white men are too quick to sacrifice our young men - in whatever circumstances. I’m not bent that way. They are the most precious thing this country can call their own and our supposed Muslim president is wasting them with politcal polling expediency to appease the very weakest and useless among us and to fulfill the prime urgency of his being - the rising and domination by Islam.
Okay. Have it your way. I admire your perservence. But in the end, they may be jeopardized by his actions. If one of them were your sons, would you still feel the same? The man is a Muslim. He wants that whole part of the world (and ultimately the entire world, subject to Islam) how much more plain can that vision be?
One of them is my son, also in the 25th ID, like the Capt. in this article. My middle son is due to report to Fort Benning on Aug. 1.
I told them when they enlisted that Presidents come and go the oath you take is to the Constitution.
They know that, and I am sure it won’t surprise you but, the Pres. is NOT a rock star to the troops.
What a mensch.
Oh, gosh no. I would not fault him either way, stay or go, and I DEFINITELY don’t fault him for not swearing fealty to Odingleberry.
I am with you on the situation over there. Their hands are being tied politically, and the head of that country has been spitting on us lately. I would defer to their opinion.
I am supposed to go down to my local Eagles club tonight for a going away party for two of the guys who are heading to Afghanistan. I think I will have to make sure of it.
Wow! What an inspiring story.
Am puzzled by this, though, in the piece:
His other achievements include completing 465 gruelling hours of punishment tours, which is one hour of waling back and forth with a rifle, and personally body-piercing the entire women’s soccer team.
I assume “waling” is just a typo where “walking” should be. But the rest of the sentence...?!
I just think he is indifferent to it. And that is at least as fraught with danger as the Lyndon Johnson style hand-wringing.
He's doing it for his men. I bet he knows what the administration is worth, and wants to bring home as many soldiers, whole and well, as he can.
Please thank your sons, on behalf of me and my family, for their servie. And I thank you for sharing them with us. God bless all of you.
servie = service
Hey, you are totally entitled to your feelings and thoughts. I completely understand where you are coming from - and maybe in 6 months I’ll be agreeing with you. But I admire this guy’s guts - and I do believe some men were born to be fighters and warriors.
