Beautiful dogs. I love going to the shows just to see all of the different breeds, although I do particularly love the hounds.

Bull mastiffs are great dogs nonetheless, and still excellent guard dogs; the fawn color really is beautiful - but it doesn't contribute to their function the way brindle does.
I like reading a “standard” like the Aussie Shepherd, they are a mess! That is because in Australia they were selected for doing a JOB, not uniformity of looks.

From the pictures, your Corgi knows he/she is beautiful. A trophy isn’t needed!

Okay, I am assuming you are talking about the Dalmatian and NOT your Dad, right?!!! LOL

Pugs are toy dogs and they’re all bred strictly for appearance and it doesn’t affect function because their function is simply being a companion.
But the smashed in face and the sometimes extreme German Shepherd does illustrate my beauty point. Is there any dog with extreme characteristics that is generally called beautiful? The trouble with extreme characteristics is that they produce disabilities and nobody claims disability is beautiful.
That said, the GSD in group did not strike me as a particularly extreme one.

I thought the very same thing...

Forget the dogs. Do the mouse, yeah!

You make a good point, there. Actually Dagny has a fluffy coat which requires a recessive gene in both parents. The fluffy coat is not breed standard and she is therefore ineligible to compete. That rule gives all the other Corgis a chance to win. :{)

There are more politics at dog shows than most political functions.

That would be an example of a dog that isn’t bio-mechanically correct.

I swear that I think Dagny loves his picture being taken! What a cute puppy. I adore their stubby little legs and those ears!!!

I have to say those are very handsome dogs. I have always had Yorkies, but If we ever decided to go for a bigger dog, your guys are exactly what we would get. My neighbor down the road has Corgis and they often stroll down for a “visit.” Adorable. But what can I say? I just love dogs.

She absolutely deserved it. I was watching the judge thinking “my pick would be the deerhound but I think he’ll go either cocker or the terrier”.

I was rooting for the smooth fox terrier-he was such a nice looking dog...but I thought Hickory was a good choice too especially since that breed has never won.

You have a “Fluffy” Welsh Pembroke Corgi and therefore by that alone it would be disqualified.
