Words to die by: Sobriety 'bores' Sheen

Hard-partying Charlie Sheen admitted yesterday that sobriety "bores" him and that he may revert to his old booze- and drug-fueled lifestyle at any moment.

In a surreal call to a sports talks radio show, the troubled "Two and a Half Men" star declared himself fit enough to work after less than 10 days in rehab.

"I was sober for five years a long time ago and was just bored out of my tree," he said during the rambling 28-minute phone interview with DirecTV/Fox Sports Radio's "The Dan Patrick Show."

"It's inauthentic -- it's not who I am. I didn't drink for 12 years and, man, that first one [drink], Dan. Wow."

Yeah, and I know nothing about homosexuality, either. The more you know, the more you blow!

I wouldnt call anyone who got hooked on prescription drugs for a short while a scumbag. I wouldnt call all addicts scumbags.

This guy is addicted to Liquor, sex with hookers and who knows what else? He trashes hotel rooms and uses his celbrity status as a shield.

He isnt just addicted, he has been to rehab on several occasions. He has admitted he has no particular interest in straightening out his life.

He is a scumkbag and an addict. Hence Scumbag addict.

You can remove the alcohol but still be selfish, self centered, a liar, a cheat, and an ahole. (Dry drunk). You have to get out of the stinkin thinkin to recover.

As though people who drink “responsibly” or non-drinkers never exhibit the same personality traits listed above from time to time. Come ON!

Some jail time (or real threat of jail time) might straighten Charlie out. It did for Robert Downey Jr. Trouble is, these celebrities are often coddled. They get slaps on the wrist or nothing at all. Put Charlie in a cell with some burly guy named Bubba. Maybe then he’ll get serious.

You are totally correct. The legal profession and judges fall all over themselves to give celebs preferrential treatment, as if they were royalty, while the average person gets the shaft. Being some pretty boy toy for a Bubba or Bubbas in the joint might get Charlie’s attention, but not until it becomes a “hard” reality for him.

Methinks Sheen has yet to hit bottom.

He will likely live to 98 and be wasted most the time.

Well, he hasn't hit it hard enough to change his ways. One has to wonder if he will survive when he finally reaches the bottom.

I will pray that he sees the light before he kills himself.

Charlie hasn't hit bottom yet. With money, a sufficiently robust physique, and an environment full of enablers, that could be awhile. Yes, he could die first.

Did a little counseling in this arena some years ago. The hardest part of it is watching someone thinking they can deal with it all in an death spiral, and you can't stop it. The spouse can't either, and neither can the kids. Anger at the addict doesn't help either. After awhile you get kind of callous. I don't counsel anymore.

Of course. But alcoholism turns people that way. They don’t heal just by abstaining from the drink. They are still miserable alcoholics even though they aren’t drinking. Any sober alcoholic that has worked a program knows this.

Or someone else.

Well, I’ll say this: Let Charlie be Charlie...However, he could be a better dad to his kids and stop beating up and using women like he has in the not-so-distant past.

My instincts tell me that at the end of the day, those hookers he plays with just walk away from him shaking their heads and laughing all the way to the bank- “Charlie, you so KRAY-ZAH!”

He hasn’t admitted his life is unmanageable. He thinks he can control his demons. He’s sadly mistaken... He’ll be dead within 2 years if he keeps it up. Alcohol is a slow death. Crack will kill you dead.(Anytime)

How do you figure? If Charlie was a “poor man”, maybe so...He’s a bloody rich American and he knows it. If Ozzy Osborne can do it, Charlie Sheen can do it!

He's a pathetic little man who can't stand himself when he is sober enough to be aware of reality. He isn't loveable so he has to buy women, even wives. No one cares enough about him to actually step in and make him seek help.

What I want to know is why he hasn't been charged with drug possession?
