To the outside observer, this probably holds true, mostly because the left’s accusations are fashioned out of wholecloth whereas the right’s jabs at leftists usually have the ring of truth.

The left is mean by lying about the right.

The right is mean by telling the truth about the left.

The Tea Partiers are mean by breathing.

Start with a conclusion and then do your study.

I’d love to see the data. I find it hard to believe that the team of Ed Schultz, Lawrence O’Donnell and Keith Olbermann came in second in the “most venomous” contest.

The Right may “talk” more hate, but the Left has a penchant for “doing” more hate. Words may mean things, but I always learned that actions speak louder than words.

Left is based on lies and emotion.

Right is based on truth and common sense.

End of story.

It is patently impossible for “objective research” to be done by “social scientists at Tufts University’s School of Arts and Sciences”.

“The term “outrage talk” refers to a form of political discourse involving efforts to provoke visceral responses, such as anger, righteousness, fear or moral indignation, through the use of overgeneralizations, sensationalism, misleading or patently inaccurate information, ad hominem attacks and partial truths about opponents,

and the Tufts University professors are in charge of the award and application of the term.

And they, on the whole, side with the liberals.

Odd.

“...social scientists at Tufts University’s School of Arts and Sciences have found that outrage talk is endemic among commentators of all political stripes, but measurably worse on the political right, and is more prevalent than it was even during the turmoil of the war in Viet Nam and the Watergate scandal.”

I have no doubt that the social scientists found this but the finding is complete and utter bull crap.

HERE IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS STUDY

Look at this quote by the authors:

“Whether it’s MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann spitting out his coffee because of some conservative transgression or radio host Michael Savage venomously impugning the character of immigrants, cable television, talk radio and blogs overflow with outrage rhetoric, and even mainstream newspaper columns are not above the fray,” they said.”

HYPOCRISY.

The quote in itself is outrageous. It implies that Keith Olbermann is only reacting to a conservative transgression, but Michael Savage is “venomously impugning the character of immigrants.”

If someone held me at gunpoint and ordered me to guess the political leanings of the people who conducted this “study,” I’m pretty sure I’d walk away from that encounter with my brains still safely in my skull...
