Once upon a time there was a young lion who had been separated from his father at a very young age. Having no role model to show him the ways of a true lion pride, he was lost. Eventually, a surrogate father stepped in to guide the young lion. This older, worldly lion taught the lion cub to imitate the hyenas that live off the fruits of other's labor and use any means necessary to obtain whatever they want. Under the tutelage of his stepfather, the young lion grew to be a successful hyena. As is always the case, the day came for the young lion to venture out and take his place in the animal kingdom.
Being an impressive specimen with a sleek, tawny coat and long, flowing mane, the young lion was readily accepted by the first lion pride he came across. The pride was so taken with the youngster that, after little discussion or examination, they made him leader of the pride. With very little experience, the young lion decided to implement those things he'd learned at the feet of his second father. He would teach his pride to imitate the hyena thereby all might share in the bounty the savannah had to offer.
Realizing that not all the lions in his pride were proficient hunters, he determined that only the two or three best, most successful hunters would be responsible for feeding the pride. Whatever they killed would be shared with the others equally, allowing the hunter lions to keep a small portion for themselves. Additionally, seeing that on occasion a mother lion of the pride might lose a cub due to illness or attack, the young lion decreed that if any mother lost a cub, all mothers must give up one cub so that all could share in the suffering. As the young lion's approach to ruling became more apparent the pride began to have doubts about their decision in selecting a hyena-raised lion as their leader. This was not what they had expected.
Before too long, the young lion leader observed that the hunter lions could run much faster and were more powerful than all the other lions in the pride. As a result he decreed that the hunter lions should run no faster than the slowest lion in the pride. Also, they were allowed to use only one paw when making a kill so as not to damage the self esteem of the weaker lions.
Of course, the foolish decisions made by the young lion leader began to take their toll on the pride as a whole. Being required to run slower, the hunter lions made fewer kills, and since all food had to be shared equally among the pride, there was less food for all. As happens on the savannah, now and then a cub would be lost. Due to the decision of the young leader, instead of losing only one cub the pride now lost several each time. Their numbers dwindled as the young were lost.
Eventually, the lions could take no more and drove the young lion leader from the pride after only four years, telling him, 'We thought you were a lion. You appear to be a lion but you are not. You are a lion on the outside and a hyena on the inside. Go back to the hyena where you belong.' The lions spent the next ten years recovering from the edicts of their failed leader. Many had learned to be lazy and depend on others to provide for their needs but soon the lions began to regain their strength and numbers having learned a valuable lesson.
You're nothing without your pride.
Toby will be writing for me and this is first piece. I would appreciate it if you could leave him a comment at GATE, to let him know what you think, and to encouraged to continue. You will find that Toby has a talent for putting things in a way that really makes sense, especially in today's world that makes no sense.
I will be presenting more of his work here for you to enjoy and discuss, and as usual I will be posting the complete article here. There will be no need to leave FR, unless you are offered a video which cannot be seen on FR.
This is a modern day Fairy Tale that describes Obama to a T. It was written by a gentleman named Toby who will be contributing his work to my site. I would appreciate it if you could leave him a comment as to what you think of his work, and encourage him to continue.
Interesting how so many thought that Obama was a rational, intelligent individual who's experience as a community leader in Chi-Town meant he was qualified to lead the most powerful and advance country the world had ever seen. For us on the right we knew the truth, now the world is learning that Obama is nothing more then a community leader from Chi-Town, and that is why he is not qualified to be President.............
