Was I the only person offended by Pepsi ads in the Super Bowl yesterday?
Its always “whitey” that smacked or hit on TV. When commercials are so politically correct and blatant, they need to be called out. Have a white couple throw a can and knock out a black woman....see what happens.
Nope I was somewhat offended, my thoughts were similar to yours.
Nothing that qreat, but I did like the one where a log knocked Roseanne on her a$$
I'm surprised we haven't heard from the race baiters by now. One could argue that the commercial depicted black people as natural-born criminals who think nothing of injuring a white woman and casually strolling away, indifferent to her plight.
“The guy didn’t throw the can, the woman did”
In any case, both of the black people took off and didn’t apologize. We’ve come along way racially to find humor in that but wouldn’t dare reverse the races in the commerical.
But, all stupidity aside, how throwing cans at ANYBODY has anything to do with the product that’s inside is just plain stupid. I now have a very negative view of PEPSI which I didn’t have before the commercial. It will be easy to NOT BUY PEPSI PRODUCTS from now on.
We know we are worlds apart ... conservatives and progressive liberals ... because we view everything differently. Marriage, religion, politics, abortion, homosexuality, work ethics, schools, how to teach, welfare, health care, freedom, military and so on ...
ono’s === One’s
In today's America, I believe that the black woman would run to the aid of her sister and apologize mentioning that 'guys will be guys.' It would have been a superb moment for race relations and Pepsi.
Would that kind of ad make anyone want to buy Pepsi? Seems to be counterproductive.
Well, the darth vader kid comm. was very sweet. But had
nothing to do with car since lots of cars have remote
control features...Where were all the super great
budweiser horsies?...I love those horses....they could
have had a Secretariat tie-in or a Zenyatta tie in with
the Bud Horses, and scored a monster commercial...too bad
the beer is average to below average...
Pepsi can on the obnoxious calorie counting wife was ok,
till they hit the girl on the noggin...completely unnecessary
white or black....same with the guy taking it in the crotch
and noggin...as far as the guy taking the Doritos crumbs off
of people...kinda sick...I’ll always remember guy sucking
off crumbs off of dudes pants...no more Doritos for me. They
get a big negative for that one....they’re too salty anyway.
the couple who threw the can at the woman... they did not run off... they went to get help...
it is hard to see what happened after, because the commercial only shows a small portion of what happened...
the can hit the woman, the couple went to get help, help arrived in the form of two attractive emts, she fell in love with one and they lived happily ever after.
just sayin...
keep drinking coca-cola.

Since you apparently missed the theme of the commercial, here it is in a nutshell:
In a progression of scenes we see the man in the ad denied any opportunity to indulge in tasty but unhealthy or fattening treats, even when he attempt to sneak a tasty treat while hiding from his wife. As he begins to take a sip from his Pepsi Max, his wife suddenly appears and he expects her to deny him this treat as well, but to his surprise he finds that Pepsi Max offers all of the taste but none of the calories. He smiles, and then the attractive blonde jogger sits down next to him and smiles at him too. The wife, in the habit of denying the guy any indulgences becomes incensed and throws her can at him, but he ducks so the can hits the other woman instead.
There are lots of things to find humor in the commercial, from the overbearing meddlesome broad who thinks she needs to control what other people eat (does that remind you of anyone?), to the bumbling guy who can't even stand up for himself and tell his wife that it is ok to indulge in an occasional treat, to the innocent jogger who gets popped on the head just because she happens to be in the wrong place and smile at the wrong guy at the wrong time.
Getting offended at the "message" of the commercial and thinking that Pepsi needs to apologize reminds me of the NOW hags that claimed the Tim Tebow pro-life commercial condoned violence against women when he tackled his mother as she was telling her story. (in other words, Lighten up, Francis!)
Reality imitates art.
“Idiocracy” and the hit show “Ow! My B@lls!”

“There are lots of things to find humor in the commercial”
There’s nothing in any commercial that’s funny about throwing something at somebody, hitting that person, refusing to apologize, and then running away. How that can be construed as humorous is beyond me. And to do it in a nasty racial manner is disgusting. Reversing the roles would never be tolerated any more than having a man slap a woman or kick her in the crotch as seems to be so popular in many “humorous” things lately.
You can drown me in explanations as to the “meaning” of the commercial, and I will still be offended by the racial insensitivity and gender bias.
That's why I like Pepsi Throwback. The sugar doesn't make me feel ill, like the corn syrup does and the logo looks all happy and smiley, just like I remember when I was a kid.
What did you think about the Wendy’s “what does that taste like” commercial for the spicy chicken sandwich? Was it offensive to you, too? I guess the 3 Stooges would be enough to get you to write a protest letter to the FCC?
The most offensive Pepsi commercial to me was the one where the guy and the girl are on the date and we hear her thoughts: “How much money does he make? Is he going to go bald? Is he going to want children?” Then we hear his thoughts: “I want to sleep with her. I want to sleep with her. I want to sleep with her.” I was so uncomfortable watching this with my pre-teen boys. I try so hard to explain to them how to be gentlemen, and this is what I have to fight...
“I guess the 3 Stooges would be enough to get you to write a protest letter to the FCC?”
I have a marvelous sense of humor . . . better than most. But I will not tolerate racist humor where only certain “types” of people get injured or slapped or kicked in the crotch.
Only white people, and particularly white males get the brunt of all slaps, pokes, and injuries in commercials and modern comedy. It’s never a black man or woman . . . never!
If you had a sense of humor, you’d notice that trend. And apparently, you don’t.
