Instead of singing the lyrics Oer the ramparts we watchd, were so gallantly streaming, Xtina sang the line What so proudly we watched at the twilights last gleaming.
Aguileras representatives sent Speakeasy this statement from the singer: I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.

Couldn’t agree more. It is the ONE song that MUST be sung properly or not at all. You can save your style of singing for your own work, but leave the National Anthem as it was meant to be sung. Stick to Country singers to sing it.
How about if I call you ignorant, then?
oops! Didn’t know if I could give out phone number like this! Guess I am just getting caught up in the moment like Christina!
Now that’s funny.
Id rather hear a hero American soldier back from Iraq sing the National Anthem...
they don’t - I don’t believe halftime performers are paid, either.
it’s a free ad for themselves.
And its not like she never sang it before. She first became prominent because she used to sing the the anthems at Penguins games back in Pittsburgh when she was a wee little girl
Is it just me, or is she beginning to look a lot like Cindy Lauper?
You and I are in complete agreement here.
I’m an American military veteran, too, and if my daughter or granddaughters ever did something as disgraceful and disgusting as that, they would have me to deal with. Two of my granddaughters sing the national anthem at a local race track where their father is the announcer and I have had many people tell me how much they enjoyed hearing the song done right, not thrashed and trashed by some ignorant tramp of a “celebrity” like this woman appears to be. I don’t know much of anything about her but I found out all I need to know yesterday.
And you were, perhaps ~ in the Air Force or something like that?
Anybody miss Kate Smith?
Go ahead and check out my profile. It won’t take you very long, especially compared to the incoherent ramblings on yours.
It’s a good thing you have a strong stomach. You needed it yesterday.
Thank you
Sure, right ~ whatever. Time to put in your bid to sing in Indianapolis.
And you would do what?
What? No more insults about me being in the Air Force, perhaps?
