Obama’s (Russian) twin treats children near Saratov

An exact copy of the U.S. President - Dr. Zaur Akhmedov - works as a pediatrician and dreams of meeting Barack.

Zaur Akhmedov is a pediatrician in the small town of Engels near Saratov, and everyone calls him ‘Doctor Obama’.

The fact is, he is very similar to the 44th U.S. president, Barack Obama.

When Zaur Akhmedov calmly walks around without bodyguards, strangers who run into him cannot recover until they realize that he is not the real Barack Obama wandering the streets of Engels, but an almost exact copy.

Children are no longer surprised, and they enjoy sticking their tongue out at Zaur Akhmedov - since he works as a pediatrician.

“Hello, little friend!” A smiling Zaur Elfakovich (Akhmedov) greets his little patient. “What’s this? Eating snow again? Don’t they feed you?”

Both children and parents love Doctor Akhmedov. Mothers say: “Let’s go see our Obama” or “Now Uncle President is going to give you a shot.” When they ask for his autograph, he signs: “Akhmedov (Obama).”

Despite the fact that his colleagues and patients have grown accustomed to him, in his hometown he is a local attraction: “He smiles just like Obama!”

“One summer I was very tan and dressed up in a suit, and this old fellow was just stunned when he saw me,” laughs Zaur Elfakovich. “He said: Holy smokes, I thought Obama had just walked into my stairwell!”

The doctor himself does not see a very striking resemblance.

“I go up to the mirror,” says Zaur. “And I think: not really that similar. But when President Obama is on TV it seems as if that’s me speaking there next to the White House. I don’t know if its his gait or whether we have the same ears or not, but they way he turns his head in profile… Look, that’s me exactly!”

If you do not look too closely, you cannot figure out right
away which one is the real president of the United States.

If Obama has Scottish, British, Indian, and Kenyan blood, then Zaur is much simpler: his mother is Russian, and his dad is Azeri. His mother worked as an engineer, while his father served his whole life on the police force.

But the Saratov and American Obamas have something in common besides looks. Both are left-handed.

And also, according to the newspapers, Barack Obama’s father was a doctor, or more accurately: a witch doctor for the Luo tribe. And Zaur in a sense also feels a little bit presidential.

He has no country, of course, but he is president of the clinic where he has worked since finishing medical school 12 years ago.

“Well, of course I’m president, because everyone respects, listens, and consults with me,” Zaur smiles.

In the U.S. they also know about the American president’s Russian counterpart - and at the very highest level.

When “our Obama” sent an email to the U.S. State Department, he received an answer from first lady Michelle Obama herself.

For now, of course, there is no talk of a meeting with the U.S. President. He is a busy man, and the pediatrician would also have to postpone a visit with his twin for better times.

There is a flu epidemic in the city. During the day, Zaur sometimes sees 30 patients, and that is before his regular appointments. Michelle would also have no one to visit with - the Saratov Obama does not yet have a wife.
