After tens of thousands of votes were cast in the January Townhall/HotAir GOP presidential Straw Poll, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin took the victory with 22% of the vote. Coming in 2nd was former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney with just over 14%.

Agreed. Same goes for many of those candidates who polled in the single digits.

Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry will be added to the February poll.

Bachmann is utterly imperturbable, and it drives Chrissy NUTS, it's really funny to watch him.... getting angrier & puffing & puffing & puffin' .... while she's totally composed, with a warm sincere smile, awaiting for him to have to catch his breath, so that she can continuing presenting her talking points to the CNBC national audience.
She used his airtime well, but I doubt she'll be back there anytime soon -- Representative Bachmann is too busy nowadays giving interviews to REAL journalists, LOL

I've been telling people this for almost two years now. Other potential candidates may pass the ideological litmus test, but none of them rate as high as Palin does, across the board.
If we were to construct a spreadsheet with all of the potential candidate's names in the far left column, and several columns of needed and wanted attributes/accomplishments, etc. running across the top, we could then rate each candidate on their various strengths and weaknesses.
I posit that Sarah Palin would beat all comers in such an exercise, and this is why she will be our candidate in 2012.

Good for her. Next to Sarah, Michele is my favorite conservative Tea-publican.
Don't fret. Ron Paul may not even make another run at the WH. Besides, after the 2012 primary, Republican voters won't have anywhere to go, but Sarah.
That’s right, the last thing we need is to splinter our early primary votes on other candidates. Let’s hope people realize that and coalesce behind Palin—early and enthusiastically.
I vote for anyone else is essentially a vote for Mitt—who would be McCain II.

Listened to Mutt this morning on GMA and he has his defensive sales pitch down but he still has no offense.
Her behavior towards Mr. Matthews is invariably polite, and it drives him MAD ( - cackle,cackle -).
The other night Pat Buchanan was teasing Mr. Bo-Tinglies, "Chris! You have Michele Bachmann on HARDBALL every other night!!!!!"
She didn't care how rude he was, it was a reflection on him, and not on her, LOL

Yep, and you should ping him when you mention him, only polite regardless of how much PDS he exhibits.
I don't know why we spend even two minutes talking about Romney. He couldn't even beat John McCain, for crying out loud. My impression is that Republican voters see him as detached and aloof, without so much as a candle burning in his soul - much less a roaring fire.
The American people are looking for a warrior to take this country back - not a plastic used car salesman, like Romney.
I suspect that the 14% who voted for him in this poll are a mix of Democrats and uninformed R voters. Certainly NO Tea Partiers or conservatives gave him the nod.
No doubt, some Paulbot tipped off their network, and they bum-rushed the poll. I think it's a false positive, and far outside of reality.
