Could FReepers please give me the bullet points/bottom line of the consequences to the US should/when Egypt's falls to these protesting "revolutionaries"? I've been out of town without Internet access the past few days...seen only snippets of reports here and there on the news...who exactly is behind this "revolution"? Are their nefarious things happening in the background? I see that our current regime is supporting their current regime, or is that just lip service? With the domino effect happening across the middle east just exactly who/m is taking control of these nations? And what will it mean to mean to me and my family in the coming days/weeks/months/years?
I graduated from high school in ‘79, I remember the gas lines VERY well. :-(
As soon as you get there everybody leaves.
That would help me a lot! EXCEPT if Obama decides to freeze prices, (And he likely will) it will wind up in shortages like happened during Carter, rationing, gas lines, double prices and even Oil workers getting laid off.
We sure don’t need that right now, but Obama is too stupid to understand it and will likely do it anyway.
Egypt has obvious strategic importance to the US and the world. The fact that te MB was a late commer to the protest bodes well for the potential out come. If the current president runs away that increases the possibility that the islamists take over, and Isreal nukes most of its rivals. If there is a change to a military president other then HM the probability is a managed change from a strongman to a semi democrocy over years. Rule of law becomes the prominant wild card in stability. While the mullas in iran are outwardly cheering, they are scared to death that a 2nd democratic front might open in the ME. With Iraq actually working this could be the death knell for the adis infested leadership of iran, which means they will go all in to get the ME to rule. With 60% of egypt’s population under 30 and familiar with the west that’s going to be very hard, the kids are secular, they just want jobs.
Buzz off oh antithesis of your FR namesake.
Thanks, all-I didn’t realize all of the possible ramifications but I knew they were/could be very bad-praying for Israel and innocents getting caught up in the big middle of this mess!
I also have been wondering the same exact thing!
We don’t need another Iran on our hands and with Obama in charge I’m extremely nervous about another Jimmy Carter regime change!
Obama is not stupid. He hurts us on purpose.
te = the
adis=aids=hiv
ME to rule = MB to rule
Sorry the keyboard on the laptop and mouse pad are acting up
Israel may have to attack Egypt to take out it its Air Force before attacking Iran with conventional weapons. Also we have given Egypt our Abrahms Tanks. Israel would have a tough time stopping them in a coordinated Arab/Muslim attack. If Egypt goes Islamic Nuclear War in the are is likely. Israel can not afford to let Egypt go Islamic.
Ron, chill out a little, OK? What is with everybody these days? I know things are difficult, but there’s no need to turn on each other over throwaway remarks.
We have bigger fish to fry than each other.
I was 16 and got my license in 1979. There were some tiffs with the folks about how much gas I burned that summer. They were right, of course; I was a typical dumb suburban kid.
IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!
DON'T YOU GET IT?
Twit.
Uh...Gas was going through the roof before the Egyptians decided to loot, riot and behead the mummies.
My guess is it will give everyone selling stuff in the U.S. another excuse to raise prices...
The big cheese in pyramid land has been in power 30 years, but wants a bit more time to prove himself...
No I don’t, please explain.
Dickhead.
Also kiss the pyramids and the Sphinx goodbye..
They admitted to an arsenal of 200 warheads at the time the Oslo Accords were negotiated in 1998. Various military think tanks have believed them to be adding between 25 and 35 additional warheads in each year since - which gives context to their generous land for peace offerings.
A strong fundamentalist Muslim hegemony would also threaten India, another major nuclear player. Expect India, which recently tired of the Somali pirates and put an end to most of them to not just do nothing.
It's just the peasants in the private sector who are recoiling in anger...Unlike the government employees and retirees who are quite satisfied and comfy...
If memory serves me right, the gas lines of 1973 were worse than the ones of 1979.
AND YOU ARE THE MOST OBEDIENT SERVANT OF THAT LAW!
