Not to self: Indiana and Idaho look like good places to live.

funny...but somehow, “worst” is probably misused on some of these labels, ..Illinois the worst at robbery ? some states rob better than Illinois ?

I have a hard time believing that TN is the most “corrupt” state. I don’t know who the Daily Beast is but my guess is they couldn’t tell their head from the tailbone.

Mississippi ranks last in the most number of categories.

Arkansas state motto used to be: Thank G_d for Mississippi. We are only 49th.

My state isn’t very good at electing Democrats.

My thoughts exactly. The worst thing they could say about Idaho was “weakest government influence”, i.e. most individual freedom? Maybe I should move there!

Agreed - another way to express why Indiana is bad: “most business friendly” - to Michigan’s detriment.

Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Delaware, and Vermont have the same amount of political clout as Idaho.

And how can Ohio be nerdier than California? Was Silicon Valley moved?

I was amused by UT.

So was I.

But, I think it's probably how their metric is measured. Utah is really conservative in this respect, so it all goes underground (i.e. via the 'Net). If that's how the metric is measured, then it's going to be higher than other states that have more "traditional" sources.

23. Minnesota: highest number of reported tornadoes (123 in 2010)

I find that very hard to believe.

I read the article further, and that's indeed how it's measured:

44. Utah: highest rate of online porn subscriptions

Seeing the Vermont is now populated with aging hippies waiting to die and flannel shirted lesbians, I’m not surprised about the lowest birth rate.
