If you were going to replace Keith Olbermann who would be the first name to pop your lips?
See it isn't as easy as it sounds.
The first name reportedly on MSNBC lips is Alec Baldwin, according to Rob Shuter at PopEater.
"He's already part of the NBC family, has a huge fan base and is very respected for his long term passions for politics."
He's also good on TV and has wide name recognition. And the fact is MSNBC is going to need a shot in the lineup arm at sooner than later, so maybe it's not a surprise that Alec Baldwin's name is being bandied about.
Baldwin, meanwhile, was good on Eliot Spitzer last month as a talking head, and despite the fact he says he's interested in politics, the reality of actually making a run and the fact there are no big openings in New York on the horizon might make a gig like this all the more appealing: he can talk politics all he wants without actually having to do it.

Cenk Uygur.
Baldwin....respected? By whom? Not even his own family. What a show that would be.
Mean as a snake AND the daffiest duck in Hollywood.
Alec certainly fills the bill.
Just when you think you’ve seen the most annoying liberal of all, another one ever worse comes along.
i think MSNBC needs to evaluate their choice to include George Clooney Rosie O’Donnell Al Sharpton
Perfect idiot replacement.
No coffee for him.
Coffee is for Closers.
Joke of the day. :)
Gesundheit!
See it isn't as easy as it sounds.
Sure it was,
These Liberals are so full of themselves, Liberal Commentators that would get poor ratings like Keith are a dime a dozen.
I heard the fat alcoholic child abusing fantasy world living Baldwin doing a radio show sit in awhile back...how many ways can you say “bombed”... I say bring it on...might be funnier that his 30 Rock “comedy” show.
What?! I can’t believe Alec Baldwin would give up his huge audiences as a commentator on classic films at Turner Classic Movies (TCM) in exchange for an audience whose broken television tuners are frozen on MSNBC.
Even better, how about Balwin and Behar together - we would have an absolute blood frenzy. Behar can't go a half minute without some putrid remark about Conservatives, republicans, Palin, Beck - she is such trailer trash - I don't care how much education you have, mom always told me you can't make a silk out of a sows ear. Behar is definitely a sow. And, Baldwin is another maniac.
Hahahahaha.
Because he worked out so well as a talk show host on the radio, right? It was laughable when he attempted that!
If MSNBC wants to keep flushing their ratings down the toilet, let them.
Arec Barwin!
THAT would be a hoot!
I'm fed up with 90% of talk radio, but it does take serious talent to keep a show going. The most successful came out of radio, not politics.
