Recommedation on political books

Looking for FReeper recommendations on political or military history books.

Have recently finished two books on the JFK assassination. So books on JFK or LBJ are of current interest.

All of Oliver North’s books are good. David McCullough “Adams” and my favorite is his “1776” as a first cousin 6 times removed was killed in the battle of Long Island.

Paul Johnson's MODERN TIME.

Arthur Herman's HOW THE SCOTS INVENTED THE MODERN WORLD: THE TRUE STORY OF HOW WESTERN EUROPE'S POOREST NATION CREATED OUR WORLD AND EVERYTHING IN IT

Thomas Sewell's BLACK REDNECKS AND WHITE LIBERALS

Those should make for an interesting start.

A Patriot's History of the United States is pretty durn good. Dunno about the author, though. He hangs around some pretty fringe websites... ;-)

I’m sure you’ll enjoy them. They are very educational. The ones I have read have all been good reads.

Try The Forgotten 500 by Gregory Freeman. Not only is it a good, harrowing action-adventure story of how a few OSS operatives set up a network to rescue downed allied flyers in the Balkans, it also delves into the political intrigue and infiltration of communists into US and British intelligence and the role they played in carving up post-war Europe.

Case Closed by Gerald Posner is a great one if you haven’t already read it. It’s about the JFK assassination and makes a powerful case that it was Oswald working alone.

And anything by Thomas Sowell is good of course. The one people usually recommend is Conflict of Visions but I like Quest for Cosmic Justice too.
