Can scientists become "Deadly Ninjas of Science Communication"? That was proposed by Chris Mooney, author of The Republican War Against Science," and a member of the board of directors of the American Geophysical Union. Mooney advocated this idea in a presentation at the Union's December 13-17 fall meeting in San Francisco.
Mooney is concerned that global warming skeptics are getting the upper hand in the ongoing debate....

That’s an exceedingly fine suit of clothes the emperor is wearing!
And, welcome to Warmists in Winterland, where things are not always as they seem.

The scientist’s job is to make conclusions based on provable facts.
Propaganda is not their job.
If the facts are not supporting their conclusion, then they need to re-evaluate their conclusions.
As far as I can tell, this ha not been done by the scientists with the agendas.
They should not be called scientists any more.

Those huge icicles are stakes in the heart of the blood suckers. (Can I say that?)Thanks a lot, pal. Your violent analogy has pushed me over the edge. I am now compelled to seek out a public figure and impale him or her with a stake. I hope you can live with yourself.

How can they not be getting their message out. Name one show on the discovery or history channel these days that no matter what the subject matter is, the last 10 minutes are not devoted to a diatribe about how the effects of global warming are going to destroy all the cool stuff you just saw.
All newspapers hype global warming all the time. Scientific American, and Discover magazine are gigantic are non-stop hype machines.
Every classroom for every grade from kindergarten through college preaches this stuff non-stop, even if the class is not a “science” course.
In all of these places there is never another viewpoint contrary to the politically correct one.
The market is beyond over-saturated already, and they want to kick it up a notch.

Scientists Challenged to Become Better Global Warming Propagandists Propaganda is not supposed to be part of a scientist's repertoire. A scientist uses facts, real data, to argue the case. It's not about popularity, and it's not about convincing rhetoric or propaganda.
If no one else agrees, a real scientist responds, "Eppur si muove" (nevertheless, it - the earth - does move). Real science is never settled and always open to questioning based on data. Even if everyone else accepts something as obvious and fundamental as Newton's Laws of motion and of gravity, a real scientist questions those "Laws" and says things like, "I sometimes ask myself how it came about that I was the one to develop the theory of relativity. The reason, I think, is that a normal adult never stops to think about problems of space and time. These are things which he has thought about as a child. But my intellectual development was retarded,as a result of which I began to wonder about space and time only when I had already grown up."
It's sad that real science seems to be dying in our postmodern, feelings-centered world.

You left out my favorite, "consensus", as if truly scientific results were something to be agreed upon by a cheerful, harmonious group.

Indeed. Thanks for your thoughtful reply.

Another wonderful article from American Thinker, this time tearing apart the unquestioning beliefs of the Left on Global Warming. If you think it's that good, then please post their commentaries in News/Activism, not Chat, and check editorial so it can hang in that sidebar. More eyeballs will be able to catch it there.

Thank you.
I have seen other posters chastised for posting things as News, so, quite frankly, I was not sure where to place the article.
