Campbell's Soup Rant (angry vanity)
Me | Jan1, 2011 | DJMacWoW

Posted on 01/01/2011 10:36:34 AM PST by DJ MacWoW

My husband bought me some of my favorite soup, Campbell's Cream of Potato. My mouth got all ready and I sipped the first spoon. I spit it back in the bowl. It tasted TERRIBLE! I thought it was spoiled. Nope. Now! With Sea Salt Added! If I wanted sea salt I'd go float in the ocean!

I just discovered that they've done the same to Vegetarian Vegetable. No more Campbell's soup for me. And I wrote them to tell them where they can stick their sea salt! I don't buy Healthy Choice soups because they taste awful. So they are now going to force their idea of healthy on consumers? The left is taking over everything and forcing their ideas on us. I'm really angry. They stick their nose in every aspect of our lives.

I guess I'll just have to make my own.

You “live out in the middle of nowhere” and your happiness is contingent upon a CAN of potato soup?

I live out in the middle of nowhere and feel as blessed as humanly possible.

EFF THE SOUP!

At last, something on which we agree. I had to stop buying my favorite type of Melba Toast because they switched to Sea Salt. The toast tasted so awful, I couldn’t eat them anymore—and this is something I used to LOVE. Very sad.

I thought all salt is sea salt. It’s just salt.

Today is a nothing day. As in "Everybody is taking the day off".

I admire your ability for snarking at a CLEARLY LABELED VANITY.

Nothing wrong with sea salt. But ALL canned soup contains so much salt, I stopped buying and consuming it several years ago. Too bad, it’s very convenient. But a can of soup is like 3 days allocation of salt! It’s astounding.

Fry some bacon bits, drain off the fat, add your left over mashed potatoes and cream or milk (cook low—do not boil), (precook) diced potatoes and carrots (or use left-over), saute some onion and celery. Add to hot (not boiling) milk potato liquid. Add salt pepper to taste and a bit of butter. Yum!!

Best potatoe soup and takes only a few minutes to make. You can also use cooked ham instead of bacon.

Flake Salt - I think the company that makes this is secretly mocking its customers.

Try Bear Creek potato soup mix. Just add water, cook for 15-20 min and you have something far better than Campbell’s ever made!

Really? You’re upset at soup? Buy another brand or make your own.

Dr Oz did a big show on sea salt...Finally caught on to this dude....He's nothing but a salesman....and we're the suckers.

I'm sooooooo tired of being told what to eat...how to prepare healthy stuff....blah, blah, blah...I'm almost 70...who cares...My mom lived to 90....the last 15 years were hell for her.

I make my own soup and freeze it. Also, buy progresso when it is on sale for $1. Lentil soup is great!!!

I appreciate a good rant. This was OK, more of a rantlet.

Golly I'm sorry. I cut it off before it degenerated into something that would get me banned. ;-)

Vegetarian Vegetable? I had to dump Old Bay Seasoning and Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning in it to make it palatable.

I dumped it down the toilet instead. lol

Don’t get me started on Nabisco.

There are some recipes that you NEED things for that they don't make anymore. I did find OTC cracker meal and it is good but now IT has been bought by a bigger company. I'm hoping they don't get stupid.

“I always thought of sea salt as one of the ?good? salts.”

I only use sea salt. Don’t know why other than a real course ground salt is yummy on meat. Chemical composition perhaps.. Don’t care. I love salt..
