The state Department of Revenue plans to hike the 2011 penalty by about 9 percent for residents who are able to afford health insurance but fail to buy it.
Taxpayers ages 18 to 26 whose income exceeds $32,496 will see the penalty increase to $864, up from $792. For those ages 27 and older whose income exceeds $32,496, the penalty will rise to $1,212 annually, up from $1,116.
The fee, adjusted annually, doubles if two parents are in the family.

So, people who can't "afford" health insurance don't have to purchase it, but people who can "afford" it do?

$1200 @ $32K = $100 per month. Assuming $1800 take-home per month - it ain’t that bad ...
Compared to something like $4000 annual thru a private insurer ...

People will pay the penalty. In that tax bracket its about what a six month policy costs.
This is what you get when the government forces you to buy health insurance.
That is a cheap price to pay in order to get insurance after the fire. You would have to be dense to buy it ahead of time.

I never vote Dem and I’ve lived here all my life. I do believe they bus people in to vote. They probably have the dead vote and allow illegals to vote as well. That’s why practically every county west of the Boston area votes Republican, but somehow the density of people in the Boston area out votes us all.
If you ever saw a map after a vote it would make you raise an eyebrow! We really don’t deserve what they are doing to us here......
