An Army lieutenant colonel has asked to be relieved of command rather than order his troops to go through pro-homosexual indoctrination following the repeal of the policy, which required homosexuals to keep silent about their sexual preference. Currently the commander of a battalion-sized unit in the Army National Guard, the officer also has threatened to resign his commission rather than undergo "behavior modification" training intended to counter his religious convictions about homosexuality.

What happens the first time a (straight) NCO orders a subordinate to do an extremely dangerous task and the sub refuses, claiming the NCO is discriminating against him/her because he/she is gay and the NCO is straight???
I too was raised with a gun in my hand from the time I could walk but our armed forces have so many high tech weapons (some of which I helped develop) that directly shooting at us and engaging in man to man combat will be the last thing they do.
Since they, and many here on FR think that an individual does not, and should not, own AT and AA missiles or machine guns then we have already lost most of the war against their Communism. Our founding fathers did not write in restrictions as to what types of weapons we could have, not because they only knew about muskets and such, but because they knew that we needed to be armed with the necessary equipment to keep a corrupt government at bay.

I recall a story about a certain Helicopter pilot who told his superior that he was a Christian and felt uneasy about the change to allow women serve in combat.He was ofrced out. He never disobeyed any order-merely sought ht e advice o fhis superior -and was told he no longer fit with th e direction or goal of our post modern Military.
Call me crazy but I think leveling an urban neighborhood with a C-130 or an A-10 Warthog in order to root out the "redneck" living on the cul-de-sac will be a bad PR move.
I would like to know how the DoD is going to define “openly gay.”
