My son is getting married the weekend of Valentine's Day. He and is wife to be have not yet decided on a honeymoon location. Travel agents are steering them into one of those all inclusive, security fenced in places in Aruba or Cancun etc. I suggested a Cruise, but my son, a plumber and avid golfer, I think would probably go nuts after a couple days without doing something physical. My brother suggest Maui. Staying in San Francisco a day and then flying to there. I say anywhere but Mexico. The drug wars, etc have spilled into places like Alcapulco...so I'd say it would be crazy to go there.
I respect and look forward to the comments here.
Suit yourself.
I bid you a happy and prosperous New Year.
Jekyll Island Georgia, quiet, and the island was the winter get away for the vanderbilts, morgans , mellons ect until WW2.
Nice beachs, interesting history, great seafood, and southern hospitality. A golf course, and Brunswick is across the bridge if you need to see a movie. Mostly peace and quiet with lots of time to get to know each other.
This past Valentine’s Day our elder granddaughter turned Sweet Sixteen and we took her to Aruba to celebrate. She was born on Feb. 14th. We’d been there before and love it because the weather is always the same. There is never a weather forecast in Aruba because there is nothing to forecast. My wife attracts mosquitos, which is why she loves Aruba. NO BUGS! At night with all the lights around a resort: No bugs, no moths, no mosquitoes! Check out the RIU PALACE. http://www.riu.com/en-us/Paises/aruba/palmbeach/hotel-riu-palace-aruba/index.jsp
As someone who moved from Sarasota - Bradenton area to Ft Myers, I recommend Fort Myers, after Jekyll Island Georgia
Krabi, Thailand with the beaches and limestone cliffs is also very nice but a long flight.
He is on his honeymoon I hope to hell he gives it to his bride big time
Do you do stand up comedy?
There’s really some great ways to achieve max heart rate!
he will love a cruise...
They are active 20 hours a day, all the shore excursions, and you don't have to looking for a restaurant.
Yes! It is not like you stay on the ship 24/7 the entire length of the cruise. I LOVED St. Thomas and St. John. We took an open air taxi across St. Thomas, onto a ferry crossing the bay to St. John where we rented equipment, including an underwater camera, and went snorkeling. FABULOUS!
There is a lot of walking/hiking/climbing at all the ports of call, so there is plenty of physical activity.
P.S. Why would any American want to give their money to Hawaii?
Because??????
I love that suggestion. Maybe I can talk the DH into a 3rd ‘honeymoon’.
Spent my honeymoon there almost 30-years ago.
It was pretty wild back then too...
Hawaii, Kauai.........especially after a nasty winter. Enjoy it.
I agree - the Caymans - great idea.
What in the world did you do to get your physical exercise?
Take an Alaskan Cruise ship, you won’t be hassled by third world countries, the scenery is much better and there is a drastically less chance of you getting sick.
Just a week long cruise up the inside passage or all the way to Anchorage, and then take the Princess Tours Train to Fairbanks and back.
Boycott Maui, the place is infested with liberals. They were the spearhead of the movement, Sierra Club and the usual liberal groups, to stop the Superferry, along with the usual union interests in the inter-island shipping business. Many Hawaiia residents have sworn to never spend another dime on Maui.
Nobody mentioned Disney World? My wife and I went there 23 years ago. Delightful two weeks. We got a special 1-year pass and went back some months later.
We are hoping to go back for our 25th and do it all again.
Well, almost all ...
lol
Sedona Golf Resort, Sedona Arizona. Some nights will still be chilly but Sedona is in the USA, in Arizona, and has plenty of hiking and sight seeing vistas.
