Dear Friend,
We felt that advertising on the Glenn Beck Program could be mis-interpreted as an endorsement of Mr. Beck's political views. Since Omaha Steaks has no affiliation with Mr. Beck, nor do we ever endorse any political affiliations, views or beliefs, we felt it was in our best interest to discontinue these ads.
Sincerely,
Julie Davis Omaha Steaks Customer Care Representative
Some of the best steaks I've ever had were bought out of the back of a Ford ranger, in the parking lot of a Moline bar, about 10 minutes to close in 1999.
Good deal too. About 15 pounds for 10 bucks.
Just wanted to to know the system. Many think when they give mail back marked refused it will automatically be returned to sender. I like to clarify that point. I’ve got no problem picking up refused mail.
The shame of the junk mail is that they give them such steep discounts.
>>>Omaha Steaks is going to find out that the whiny minority that complained about their advertising on GB do not buy steaks anyway, and that by caving in to their demands they will alienate the much larger Christmas gift buying, big spending, meat eating demographic that does.<<<
In other words - they’re Dixie Chicking themselves.
Summarized as: Omaha=Obama
Omaha = New Coke.
Costco meat is far above average, and their prices rock. Their meat department alone is worth every penny of the annual membership fee.
I have traded emails with them today, altho the ones they keep sending me are basically canned responses.
Sounds like you’ve been reading the liberal take on farm production...
Sounds like you’ve been reading the liberal take on farm production... Have you ever worked or lived on a farm? Or visited? Or anything?
There is a difference in taste and quality when comparing meat from modern, large scale production vs meat produced from traditional, small scale raised livestock.
The staff writers of our blog responded incorrectly and I want to apologize for any confusion this may have caused. The facts are: we did not "pull" our ads from any show. Our holiday TV advertising contract ends on December 19th. Our contract never specified when our ads would air, only that they would air. Mr. Beck's show is enjoyed by many, and we at Omaha Steaks hope our steaks are too. Our marketing is designed to speak to Americans who love steaks and great food, getting together with family and friends and giving gifts of great taste - no matter what TV shows they watch or what newspapers they read.
Don't buy their beef if you like free speech.
They just cleansed all the comments on that link you gave...
Too little, too late.
They’ve Dixie Chicked themselves.
Shoot, I wish I had done a screen shot. The weasels.
Somebody is getting chewed;but fewer Omaha Steaks will be this season.
Well, yes, they are basically lying. I got one email that said they didn’t want people to think they agreed with Beck and then another that said it had nothing to do with that. All within the space of less than 24 hours. Their corporate heads must be spinning. They would have been so much better off to just ignore the little lefties and gone about their business of selling steaks.
Hope they don’t trip while they are backpedaling...
They are obnoxious.
Last year, they called me an average of 3 times a day (I didn't answer, thanks to caller ID).
Well one day they called when I was in a really bad mood. I picked up the phone and asked, "What the hell is the matter with you people? Do you think I don't know where to find you if I want to place an order?"
And so on. They agreed to put me on their "no-call" list, but now I wish they hadn't so that I could shriek at them again.
