I hope all of you will stop by.
This is typically a low volume ping list. Once a week for the thread and every once in a while for other FR threads posted that might be of interest.
If you would like to be added to or removed from the list please let me know by FreepMail or by posting to me.
Broccoli and cauliflower seedlings chugging along...hoping potential snowstorm heads out to sea Sunday...
Still have Turnips and Winter Onions in the garden, also Brussel Sprouts. Though we have had zero temps. I’m waiting for the thaw so as to gather these garden items. I discovered these Winter items by accident. One year I had left these food items in the garden due to not having the time to clean them from the ground, and behold there they were in great shape. So, every fall I leave a large quantity of these veg’s in the ground for the Winter.
and then there’s this:

Looks like The Garden Police bill is dead, too!
:)
It is 47 and windy here today. I pulled a few turnips this week. We are really dry again, and the thread below is not good news.
Hi all from Nashville, TN. Cold here but at least no ice on the roads......
Hubby has been dropping LARGE hints that he would like a blue spruce tree. I don’t particularly care for them but would like to get him one anyway for Christmas. Saw some at the Home Depot-they were about 3 feet tall. Anyone have any experience with these types of trees? Do they grow ok in these parts? I have seen just a few around town and they seemed healthy and all. I’ve heard they are slow growers. Any thoughts/suggestions would be very welcome and appreciated.
I “seed” you’ve been pinging regularly again, seems like you’d been, uh, well, I don’t want to say irregular, but you get my meaning... ;’) Anyway, during the winter yours is the most important ping list on FR for those of us in the Snow Belt.
Good afternoon Red. Thanks for the links. We are having a warm day today. It is 36 degrees on the way to a high of 38 and low tonight of 29.
It has been unusually cold and schools have been closed due to ice on the roads and we have had single digit nights. The sun is shining today, and the winter wheat is still green, so the garden looks almost like spring.
The tomato limbs that I cut off and stuck in a pot indoors had tomatoes that all ripened well. There is only 2 left, one is almost ripe, another is green and growing. The tomato plant that I dug up and put in a pot is still growing well. It has 5 3tomatoes that are still green. I am thinking about repotting it to a larger container.
I peeked under the row cover, and straw at the lettuce and onions in raised bed #1 today, and they are doing well, so I should have a little homegrown for the salad on Xmas. Hubby did not get his carrots harvested or covered, so I dont know how they are doing, but the ground is too frozen to try to pull them up I think.
Have a good week, and Merry Christmas to all.
(sorry Red, I posted this on the wrong thread).LOL
