Solider Systems noticed that the new M24E1 sniper rifle is now being referred to as the XM2010. PEO Solider says ...
The XM2010 is distinguished by its advanced design and represents a quantum upgrade over the M24. The shooter interface can be tailored to accommodate a wide range of shooter preferences and its folding stock provides Soldier flexibility in transporting the weapon during operations. The weapon also incorporates advanced corrosion resistant coatings to ensure longevity. The aluminum, steel, and high impact polymers used in the weapons construction are lightweight and rugged.
The ESR is equipped with a Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm scope. The variable power scope includes a first focal plane reticle so when the user dials in, the reticle pattern scales with the zoom enabling the sniper to estimate range at any power setting. The scope also employs a reticle pattern that facilitates faster and more accurate range estimation and utilizes mil turret adjustments to eliminate MOA to mil conversion. The targeting stadia reticle allows for simultaneous elevation and windage holds that eliminate the need to dial in adjustments.

New rifles give Army snipers in Afghanistan needed range
It's a USA Today article, so we're only allowed a headline and link.
Nice but I would rather have Carlos Hathcock.
I would like to shoot one
Is this still .308 Winchester, or did they upgrade to .338 Lupua?
Wow! An Erector set that acts as a Long Distance Paper Punch.
There's only been about 10 guys in the history of modern warfare that could shoot that good.
For the other 49,990 you need more help...and the modern scopes and rifles HELP when you're shooting 4km.
Dear Santa, I’ve been a little naughty but usually nice. I need one of them XM2010 Sniper rifles.
Thanks Santa

You’ll shoot your eye out kid.
300 Winchester Magnum at 1300 yards. It might not shoot through concrete walls but I'm guessing it will go through a turban just fine.
Imagine how many kills he would have had with this kind of range.
Yep, he would have loved that weapon.
Paul Mauser would be proud I think.
There are likely some of his earlier designs firing back at us from the natural redoubts that are Afghanistan.
My dad brought a 30-40 Krag back from Viet Nam as a “war trophy”- best I can figure the Navy took some to China during the Boxer Rebellion. The NVA got some and were using them against us and at least this one Springfield Armory weapon made it home full circle.
And School Houses.
It may have given him the highest sniper kill total in Vietnam.
I would like to have one in .750 caliber youknow, to hang on the wall above the fireplace.
And a 1 foot rubber dampening butt plate.
Ouch!

I’d rather have my Springfield Socom II 18” with iron sights in .308 or my Bushmaster .308.
Boom! Shaka Laka Boom!
