Rearview cameras could become more common in future cars and trucks under new rules the government was proposing Friday to address concerns about drivers unintentionally backing over children.

If you’re in too much of a hurry to take a moment to make sure a kid isn’t behind your car, what makes anyone other than a government bureaucrat think they will be paying attention to a camera?
Exactly.
I would follow the money on this. Some democrat stands to gain from this because it is a mandate.
Made necessary because so many Americans are too fat and lazy to turn around and look behind them...
All that matters is that the manufacturers of these devices are greasing a few hundred palms in Washington to force us to purchase their product.
Why not mandate that all cars have to be carnival bumper cars? They’re electric. (coal fired)
Another government “solution” in search of a problem. Even worse, an attempt to legislate stupidity out of existence.
“I would follow the money on this. Some democrat stands to gain from this because it is a mandate”.
Ahhhh, let me guess. Michael Chertoff is Director of Sales for the camera co.
We will get an entire generation of drivers: “OMG I can’t back up my backup camera isn’t working!”
Seriously. you can’t just turn around and use the side and rear view mirrors, and take your time, maybe even beep your horn in case someone’s passing by.
I have decided that government has run out of things to do. Think about it. They sit around and need to justify their existence so they will continue to make laws and new laws and regulations and new regulations.
I want to see the statistics on this first. It all sounds good. “To protect the children” but please ... several million drivers out there so how many children get run over when a car backs up?
Its time for us to significantly reduce the size of government (3/4 at least) that way they will be busy doing what they really should be doing instead of sitting around trying to think up new laws and new regulations.

It’s time for people to run for office based on ways to increase liberty and restore freedom for individuals and businesses rather than running on a platform of endless anal-retentive laws and regulations.
Apparently “free ice cream” and the nanny state are more important to the lazy and dependent masses than the opportunities offred by true freedom and libery.
CWII is underway...Ft Sumner II is next.
Well. I guess it’ll help me hit my target better than craning my neck around...
Ok what congressman has a uncle who sells cameras?.
I remember back during one of the debates between Clinton and Bush Senior, this idiot guy with long hair and pony tail and when he asked a question and mentioned that we are the children and the government as parents. This mindset has to stop !

Anal-retentives never run out of ideas how how YOU should be allowed to live your life. The wise elite control freaks have to be sure you are taken care of even if you don’t want it. (The American people are not smart enough to know know what’s truly good for them, but the elitists always do really, really know. Just ask Nancy, or Harry, or John Kerry (Did you know I was in VN?.
The democrats are the champions of the un-Americans and destroyers of liberty and freedom. When will talking with them help? NEVER>
Lock and load!
I think I need a drink...and a nap.
