Cut green beans? I’ve never had green bean casserole with anything but French cut green beans. That just looks weird to me.

Maybe I don't like it 'cause I've seen it at least twice a year every year for 53 years now and I'm just tired of it. Fortunately for me, I wasn't introduced to green bean casserole until I had some at my Auntie's house when I was 25 (over 25 years ago). Loved it ever since. Wouldn't be Thanksgiving without it.

I love fresh green beans. And they are good also if you cut them up and add them to soups, but do it late so they are still crunchy.
But casserole I can live without - besides, isn’t making a casserole out of something what you do with yesterdays leftovers?
If nobody wanted to eat them yesterday, why would they all the sudden decide to eat them today?

When green beans are too fresh, they squeak on your teeth. I like them cooked till they don’t squeak on my teeth. Every other veg I like sort of al dente, just not green beans.
