PITTSBURGH -- Raiders defensive end Richard Seymour has been ejected for an openhanded punch to Ben Roethlisberger's face as the Steelers quarterback was celebrating a touchdown pass.
After completing the 22-yard throw to Emmanuel Sanders, Roethlisberger jumped into the arms of tackle Flozell Adams. Roethlisberger then began walking forward and appeared to say something to Seymour, who turned and struck the quarterback in the jaw with his open right hand.
As Roethlisberger went to his back, lineman Chris Kemoeatu grabbed Seymour. Both Seymour and Kemoeatu drew penalties, but only Seymour was ejected.

Comedian Demetri Martin had a funny bit where he drew a picture of a guy wearing a baseball cap and underneath it he wrote, “sports fan”. He drew another picture of the same guy wearing his cap backwards and underneath it wrote, “date rape fan.”
Hey...OJ was acquitted, so he’s innocent, right?
OJ went to trial, Ben has never gone to trial. And OJ also lost in the Civil Case.
But the article only says he appeared, which he did. No assumptions. It looks like he said something, ie it appears he said something, which is what the article says.

lol, perfect.
if there was really any legitimacy to the claim, wouldn’t the woman have gone after Ben? think about it. guy has $100m contract. you think if she was really violated, she wouldn’t have come after him? he accepted the suspension cause he had no choice. He didn’ thave to clear his name of anything cause he wasn’t charged with anything. It was the appearance of impropriety (being out in a college town drinking).
But, the civil case still did not make OJ guilty, just responsible enough to get sued successfully.
They don't enforce it like that. Players swing all the time. Connect and the flags fly... Though I did witness 3 or 4 occasions in different games yesterday where punches were thrown and nobody was ejected. A couple of non-calls and a couple of personal fouls. But no other ejections after a swing, connected or not.
On another note, Asante Samuels should have been tossed after his blatant helmet to helmet hit on the Giant receiver. But I wouldn't have tossed him for the hit necessarily, I would have tossed him for his pimp strut afterward. If I were king that would have been his last play in the NFL.
Actually they do enforce it like that, and no players don’t take swings all the time. I watched all day yesterday and Seymour’s was the only I saw thrown. The league is very serious about no punches. Pushing and shoving they’ll tolerate to a degree, but when a punch flies it’s an automatic ejection, and the players know that and are usually smart enough to not do it.
You could be right. Ben could have been just acting goofy and the thing got blown out of proportion because he’s a celebrity. Such things happen.
But I’d bet otherwise (and I’ve been wrong before). IMHO, the League would not hand out a major suspension for simple goofyness.
And, I’d bet that the reason the woman let it drop - not even a civil case - is that a large amount of money changed hands.
“Big Ben” had that coming for a long time. Another low-life whose low character hurts the NFL.
that’s entirely possible that she was paid off.
Rolling eyes...
Roll your eyes all you want, doesn’t change the facts. And the facts are that punches are not tolerated in the NFL and penalty written in the rule book is automatic ejection. Maybe you should post the video of these punches you thought you saw yesterday rather than roll your eyes like a 12 year old./
Pitt’s center got an offsetting personal foul call on that play, but there was no punch. The rule never changed, if the refs see you throw a punch you’re out.
And here we go with the myth of all the calls go for the Steelers again. Guess you didn’t watch the Monday night game against Cinci where the Steelers took a roughing the passer call when the defensive lineman got thrown into the QB by an o-lineman, and then on the next play they got called for pass interference in the end zone when the cover man didn’t touch TO until after the ball hit the ground, those two calls led to a Cinci TD closing the gap to 6. And heck even in this week’s game, the Raiders only scoring drive was aided by a roughing the passer call that featured almost no contact. There were at least 3 calls yesterday against the Steelers that were 100% bogus personal fouls on little or no contact. People only remember bad calls against the losing team, if the team wins those bad calls just magically disappear. Which is why people think calls go for the Steelers, they win a lot so most of the calls against them get forgotten.
Hey, take off your rosy Steeler glasses and re-read what I said. The STEELER announcers SAW two punches being thrown by STEELER players. I did NOT say the if the refs saw it or not. If the STEELER announcers SAW it, then it HAPPENED. Who knows why refs looked the other way. Beats me. But I just told you what the STEELER announcers SAW and what they EMPHATICALLY SAID multiple times.
Also, please re-read what I wrote....I will re-phrase it for you as it seems it didn’t quite sink in past that Steeler helmet you’re wearing...MOST OF THE TIME, the calls go both ways but when THE GAME IS ON THE LINE....
Sheesh, you should quit while you’re ahead and quit digging yourself into a hole with the black and gold shovel.
Don’t shout, it doesn’t make your point it just makes you loud. I don’t care what you say the Steeler announcer said, if you’ve got tape of somebody else throwing a punch link to it. Just because you say he said it doesn’t mean it happened.
2 calls in a row in the Bengals game that caused the margin to close from 13 to 6 which put the game on the line.
Sheesh you should stop with the 12 year old BS and talk like a grown up. The only one digging here is the guy that can’t put together a sentence without shouting or an insult.
I tend to do that when I have to repeat myself to someone who doesn’t want to look at things objectively. Again, I was only repeating what the Steeler announcers, who saw it live, said. As you well know, not everything is captured on tape so don’t hide behind “if it isn’t on tape, it didn’t happen”. I will trust a biased Steeler announcer initial account over someone like yourself that says it didn’t happen because it isn’t on tape. Also, as you well know, when a play is a long pass play, the camera’s tend to follow the ball. Methinks the people there saw stuff you and I are not going to see.
Have a nice day.
