Stepped-up security screening at airports in the wake of foiled terrorism plots has provoked an outcry from airline pilots and travelers, including parents of children who say they are too intrusive.
Are you less likely to fly because of stepped-up security procedures such as full-body scans and patdowns?
Yes - I will make alternate travel plans to avoid intrusive security scans and patdowns
No - It is a necessary procedure to ensure terror plots are thwarted
Undecided

These days I drive.
I’ve seen half this country. Including the entire stretch of US 1. I don’t mind driving.
How about this? WE are the clients. We pay for the privilege of flying, and the grubby TSA thugs turn around and man-handle us. There’s a real business-killing strategy.

Should be a “hell yes” option.
I only fly if it is an absolute emergency and haven’t since August of last year. I went through a stretch in 2003-2006 when I flew twice. This is quite a change for someone with over two million air miles under his belt. I made up my mind after 911 that I was going to put up with the PC’d security nonsense as little as possible.
I will endure the TSA thugs as little as possible.
NOTHING the T.S.A. does would prevent me from spending those two weeks with my husband before he deploys ~ though I'm saddened that the price of spending time with him will be full-body-scans or invasive/intrusive pat-downs of my most private parts.
This is not what he's fighting for.
First thing ya know only us Armed Forces will be eligible to fly...

It’s not much time before Wednesday, but have you considered a military hop?
Under present circumstances they may go the extra mile for you!
Poll looking good.
I am a ‘frequent driver’ and looking back at some International flying, I found better/professional staff at places like Rio, where a United guy was doing it the Israeli way... the questions, the look, the demeanor, really cool!
Former Zoomie myself. Enlisted, though. I was too smart to climb in one of those dangerous contraptions. ;) But I do have a soft spot in my headheart for swaggering pilots.
Travel prayers for you as you go to meet him and return home. Don't take any guff from anyone.

Military transport planes are not available where we are ~ and his orders say he flies out commercial on Wednesday, so that’s when we bought my ticket for... on American Airlines ... the seat next to him :)
If the baggage guy outside on the sidewalk would do 5 to 10 for groping my little children’s crotches, then the TSA guy a few yards inside the door should too.
THERE IS NO WAY I WILL FLY if my children are subjected to this.
Proud to have stopped flying since November 2001. Don’t plan on flying again.
By the way, my husband joined up as a 17-year-old high school senior and spent 9 years enlisted, culminating as a Crew Chief. Once he graduated college, he was selected for flight training, got commissioned, and was sent off to learn to fly ... and then to fly fighters. He spent more than 10 years as an F-16 pilot before switching about 8 years ago to a different air frame. On September 11, 2001, he was flying above the skies of San Francisco, patrolling, ... and he's still up there.
I couldn't be prouder of him. But I guess that shows, doesn't it?
No flying for me unless its by charter.
I will NEVER fly commercial again.
