I served from 1980-1982 U.S. ARMY C Company 9th. Medical Battalion in Ft. Lewis, WA. Thank you to my fellow freepers who also served peace time and war time, and a special thanks to those that have disabilities and family members who have made the ultimate sacrifice, you are all in my prayers this Veterans Day. I used to be in the 9th Inf. but years before you, I went into the Guard a year after you left the 9th.

Had I been able to stay in I believe 9th. went to Grenada, I had to discharge on a medical hardship 6 months early. I wish I could have made a career out of the military. I tried to reenlisted in 2001 after the attacks but was a wee too old, unfortunately! I heard they upped the age, but again I'm too old (48).

Thank you for your service. I have been serving from 1987 to present. I absolutely love the military and grateful that it is one area that is mostly patriotic, has morals, and other positives just like Free Republic.
