I used to be in the 9th Inf. but years before you, I went into the Guard a year after you left the 9th.
Go Reagan! Go vets!

Thank you for your service. I have been serving from 1987 to present. I absolutely love the military and grateful that it is one area that is mostly patriotic, has morals, and other positives just like Free Republic.

I served 21 years in the military, and I too would like to thank those who risked all and those who had all taken.
I must honestly admit that I do not consider myself a veteran. When I think of “veteran” I always think of men who have shot and been shot at in anger. Men that gave their lives and men who live with having taken lives.
That said, I made many friends who did not live through their peace time service, crashing in a burning aircraft behind the fantail of the carrier or on a training mission in the mountains of North Carolina. I’ll be thinking of them today as well.
My thanks and Christ’s Peace to all of them.
