“His premise explains that. He is not looking at nutrition or what is good for the body he is purely looking at weight loss.”
And I’m saying it’s so obvious that it’s stupid. If I have a 5 gallon bucket filled with sand, and I put one cup in, and take 2 cups out, sooner or later, I’ll empty the bucket.
I am just amazed that anyone would feel a need to demostrate such a simple concept in such an odd way.
It's not so simple in a lot of people's minds these days. I'm convinced that the food police are convincing millions of people that certain types of foods make you fat rather than the number of calories you ingest/burn.
This experiment could be very enlightening to a lot of otherwise misled people.

Yep, it's like economics, if you spend more than you have, you are going into deep debt.
The only diet that I know works and is counter-intuitive is the Atkins Diet.
It's a no carb, but no calorie limit diet and it really works, but it makes your breath smell like a sewer full of rotten road kill and when you eat your first piece of bread you gain 46 pounds in one day.
Other than those two small side effects, it's great.
Remember we’re in an environment now where cities are banning transfats selling meals with “too many” calories and toys. There’s a DEFINITE need to demonstrate this simple concept in as many ways as possible. The food police are getting bold, they’re probably going to be gunning for Twinkies next, now there’s “proof” it’s not the Twinkie.
It is actually called the scientif method to make and test a hypothesis.
Many of us have thought it was intuitive but never proven.
If others can replicate his results then you have something that is a scientific fact as opposed to just a theory.
