Donning my asbestos suit now. Good thing I have a beer in my hand to put out thre flames!
1. Tom Waits
Robert Plant is in a Tennessee supermarket?
Tony was terrific singing “God Bless America” and “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” at the World Series. He is WAY young for his age. Keep on singin’ Tony!
He may well be the last of the “saloon singers.” More’s the pity.
Yep. Freddie Mercury was indeed a great singer. One of the greatest.
John Fogerty & Credence Clearwater Rival
Ah man, Orbison is one of the best. I dont know about range compared to Elvis, but Orbison had a very unique style.

I don’t know what this guy’s definition of range is. Elvis couldn’t touch Roy.
Ahh...Luther. When people get to discussing Luther, one word is ALWAYS used to describe him. SMOOTH.
It certainly was. The book I mentioned upthread, Dark Star by Ellis Amburn, has a picture of him doing a gig at an auto show in Cincy at 1974 before an audience of maybe 20. That's typical of what he was reduced to doing before his renaissance in the late 80's.
That was prolly my twin brother, who is often mistaken for Robert Plant.
LMAO!
Boz came to my mind immediately. I also love Jimmy Spheeris.
Don Williams
Neil Diamond didn't sing. He just talked to some weird cadence.
Julio Iglesias
Marty Robbins
In the Foreign Singers you probably never heard of department, I would list my personal favorite, Polish legend Czeslaw Niemen.
You could be the ugliest, dorkiest guy on earth. You put Barry on, and woman will be tearing off there clothes and jumping on you.
Not that I have that problem. I have to put Barry Manilow on, just to slow them down :)
love most of your list but you can dump Vince Gill and Glen Campbell and add a couple of real country singers like Johnny Bush and Ray Price...
Good call. No better whiskey-sippin' music.
I think you are all missing the point. These men could project their voice. Scream and whisper at the same time.
