The three Austrian developers behind Table.Connect have chosen to remain anonymous due to "legal issues," but insist their device is not fake.
People said the iPad was just a giant iPhone – so what would they have made of this? Three technology whizzes from Austria have been tinkering on a sleek, 52-inch table with a working iPhone interface, including all the multi-touch capabilities. Have a look at their recently posted video demo of the impressive hardware hack, called Table.Connect, complete with subtitles, Sly Stallone photos and creaky floorboards:
Using a jailbroken iPhone and unidentified cable, the concept is simple and not-entirely new: Microsoft has something similar out for a while called Microsoft Surface, which Forbes got an early peak at a few years ago. Yet their demo video has already racked up 1.2 million views on YouTube and generated plenty of interest in the blogosphere, along with speculation that the technology (and video) is fake.
The three inventors are refusing to give their names–a tad suspicious–but they say that’s “due to legal issues and the massive media response we don’t want our identities to be published at this early stage.”
Too busy with all the media buzz to give an interview over the phone, one of the trio named only “Thomas” responded to a few of my questions by e-mail. Here’s what he had to say, using a couple verbatim answers from their FAQ’s:

TC: We find it quite amusing and some of those fake-claims are really creative. It was clear to us that there would be many doubters but we leave them be. Rather than wasting our time on countless “fake-cries” we prefer bringing Table.Connect to a final stage.

It sounded like they spent more money on the “iTable” than on their floor boards. There was constant creeking in the background.
I guess complaints about the screen’s being too small will be out of the question. But one never knows...
It looked like all of their photos were “beefcake” pictures...ugh. I couldn’t watch through.
Ya, a table that big and not one picture of a chick... whats up with that hmmmmmm?
Two questions:
Can you make a phone call with it?
and,
Can you put it in your pocket or purse?
At the rate my eyes are going south since hitting 50, I think I might need this in a week or two...
People will certainly keep their desks clean and cleared off that way. Imagine the cardio workout one will get from fast texting!
Pictures of chicks would be SEXIST, you insensitive clod!. But making it gay is politically correct, of course.
But I'm apparently unclear on the concept's application.
What is it good for? Microsoft has the same issue with the Surface. It's a solution in search of a problem...
I stand sensitized... what was I thinking
Yes, I think you might be unclear on the concept or perhaps unaware of the identity of their client... Or just insesitive to the problems faced by "size challenged" Americans...
This iPhone is being made under the iADA (imaginary Americans with Disabilities Act) for The Jolly Green Giant, who hasn't been so jolly lately because he has gotten so much more green with jealousy at not being able to have an iPhone like the Keebler Elves and the Kix Silly Rabbit... In fact, he has been so sad, he has been getting a distinct blue cast which is threatenening his livelyhood. So... Obama ordered a special iPhone built with Stimulus funds in Austria... The 57th State.
That was great. You're quite right, a "Jolly Blue Giant" generates considerable cognitive dissonance. :)
Considering the pictures displayed I would guess purse.
Hmmm when I tried to link it to my FB page it said it was a site that had been previously flagged as spammy? So I didn’t link it. Too bad, it was kinda fun. Not that I need one.
Well, that website name is for sale anyway... they've defaulted on their payments apparently.
