Thought I should start an open threat post-election. Some observations:
1: Christie O'Donnell was a disaster. Despite plenty of money she received less votes than the GOP candidate for the Delaware's sole Congressional seat. I knows it pains me to say this but Rove was right. Angel was another huge disappointment. She recevied less votes than the total GOP vote for the Congressional seats in NV. Lets stop running amateurs who provide plenty of material for the likes of SNL and John Stewart.
Related to (1). Strong conservative candidates with experience and good backgrounds did very well for example, Rubio, Paul, Johnson, Kaisch, Portman and Ayotte. None of those candidates had the baggage like O'Donnell and Angel.
3: The New Yorkifaction of Californis is complete. You could of run 2 cardboard cut outs as the GOP candidates and they would of received the same votes as Whitman and Fiornia. The only thing now is to open the popcorn and watch California really hit bottom. I thank God I now live in Old Virginia instead of CA or NY. At least, three Pelosi-Obama lackes went down.
I'm more depressed than ever.
What was I hoping for? I guess that every single person with an “R” next to their name would win.
Instead, I find that nearly half of our country still has its collective head up its butt, and has voted for a Democrat.
Two years ago, I can see a bunch of them hopping on the “hope and change” bandwagon. I don't agree with them, but I can *see* where scads of people would be fooled by a smooth talking young guy who had the (unspoken) promise of bringing both parties together and (by the very act of electing him) putting the racial divide in this country behind us forever.
Of course, he was a complete, abject disaster in every possible way.
The OTHER half of the country has no excuse now. They can't plead simple stupidity as the basis for their vote. They can't help but SEE America being destroyed by these Marxist pigs and they did NOTHING to stop it.. indeed, they came out and voted for the destroyers. NEARLY HALF OF OUR COUNTRY VOTED FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO DESTROY IT.
And there's no arguing with them. So the “well, get ready for 2012!” slogan doesn't seem to mean anything. What are we supposed to do? Convince X amount of these fools to vote for Sarah Palin (or whatever conservative candidate we end up running)? Fat chance. If they didn't see the light NOW, with all that's wrong in America and with the direction the country is going, they never, ever, ever WILL.
So, half the country is lost. We are the UnUnited States, for sure, and I can't see what we can do about it. And I guess that's why I don't have much of a smile on my face this morning.
I heard the unions spent 200 million dollars. What did they get? Reid?
How many union members said FU to their leadership with their votes?
also true...you never hope to lose, ie, it isn’t “good” that we lost the Senate.
But it isn’t a catastrophe either. And it does open up some different opportunities that would have been different had we won the Senate.....
I could not agree more. I'd rather lose with O'Donnell and come back to fight again than win with a liberal jackass like Castle.
I don't understand a the doom and gloom I'm seeing on FR this morning. We had an historic night! I didn't really think that COD would win but I was still happy to send her my money and give her my support. I never thought a 100 seat pickup was even remotely possible and would have been thrilled with 50...but 60 or 61? That's tremendous, not to mention the Governorships we won and the state houses we now control! And what about PA? How many election cyles have we thought "this will be the one when PA goes GOP"? Well we did it folks! PA has flipped to the good guys! Maybe Boehner won't celebrate but my wife and I had a bottle of champagne last night and I think we'll have another tonight! I'm celebrating!
My pontifications are here:

Over half of or country is in the wagon and pay no income taxes.
Yup. Mass. voters are meatheads.
I left MA in 1977 and never regretted it.
We Make It - They Take It In Massachusetts.
State is full of clueless gimmie hacks.
Does anyone know if the Alaska senate race will have a runoff election?
Winner take all when and if they ever get around to making that determination.
That's the way I see it too --- he won't be able to do much with his tax and spend agenda...
Replaced a two-term Dem governor with a Republican who squeaked by with a 30%+ win.
Added three Republicans to our U.S. representatives, making 7 out of 9.
Increased the Republican majority, which was razor-thin, in the State legislature.
The Tea Party was a new, spontaneous force..it sprung up virtually overnight, and is not organized, but rather a loose amalgam of hundreds of local groups. These are led/dominated by activists, and in many cases it was these same activists who ran. Many of them make lousy candidates, and we saw that in O’Donnell, Angel, and a few others..But the so-called mainstream GOP candidates who lost to the in the primaries coudl have had their support had they been clearly willing to affirm allegiance to the TP principals. They came to the game a little late. Next time the TP will do much better..
My hats off to you! Congratulations, I’m praying that the GOP can help MI pull itself out of it’s torpro.
Woke up depressed --- some bright spots have been the MN house and senate going GOP and Oberstar going down in flames.
but other than that... I too was very surprised how many votes democraps got. Makes you wonder what the heck ever happened to this once great country.
The time has come to be politely but firmly constitutional, conservative and, dare I say it, FRUGAL in everything we do.
IF we clearly announce our overriding goal to be keeping America from spiraling into bankruptcy, then we can:
1) Always have a clear theme to our legislation
2) Allow ourselves to be the Party of NO to 0bama’s spending without seeming to be obstructionist (When you’re broke the answer to spending IS TO SAY NO!)
3) Build supporting legislation to cut spending, reduce taxes to grow jobs, kill 0bamacare to cut costs, etc.
4) Defund policies and even agencies that are costing businesses money and therefore costing Americans jobs.
5) Pursue many budgetary and legislative paths to reduce debt and deficit.
This theme of Saving America from Bankruptcy is exactly what the American people want.
I know I do.
I think this stinks to high heaven!
1994 was an excellent tactical victory that was later squandered. This - so far - appears to be a decisive strategic win.
The GOP has a habit of shooting itself in the foot, though. I'm not overconfident. However, I liked John Boehner's speech last night - not "We Won, Get over it!" but "We Won, now we've got some work to do". Set the right tone IMHO.
You are correct. He is a political operative and he is operating against us. We have been warned.
